What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. Amgen Oncology is seeking a creative, exceptional scientist to guide the discovery and development of next-generation antibody-based therapeutics. In this vital role you will lead research and project teams to build on Amgen’s industry-leading BiTE® platform and will define and implement key areas for strategic and technical advancement. This is a high-visibility role both within the organization and externally. Broad knowledge of cancer biology, together with proven ability to excel in a fast-paced, matrixed environment will be essential.

Basic Qualifications

• Doctorate degree & 6 years of drug discovery and development experience OR

• Master’s degree & 10 years of drug discovery and development experience OR

• Bachelor’s degree & 12 years of drug discovery and development experience AND

• 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Cancer Biology, Immunology, or related field with 10 years of industry and management experience

• Leadership style that is highly collaborative, puts patients and science first, and develops talent at all levels

• Understanding of cancer cell signaling and immuno-oncology, including T-cell targeted therapies

• Scientific accomplishment and innovation in oncology research as evidenced by high-impact publications, congress presentations and patent submissions

• Experience in drug discovery and development, from target identification and validation through candidate selection and IND submission

• Understanding of cutting-edge antibody engineering technologies

• Experience leading research collaborations with key opinion leaders

• Interpersonal and communication skills
