Job Description
1.
Assist in day-to-day managerial and administration functions of the Sterile Services Department (SSD).
2.
Implement quality management system in SSD.
3.
Supervise staff on safe delivery of disinfected or sterilized instruments.
4.
Participate in the development of professional decontamination & sterilization practice.
5.
Conduct validation of decontamination machines.
6.
Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Entry Requirements:
1.
A university degree or equivalent.
2.
Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
Preferred Attributes / Exposure:
1.
2 years post qualification working experience.
2.
Solid experience in handling infection control practice or decontamination science is preferable.
3.
Training or working experience in the following areas:
i. Working experience in sterile service unit or healthcare settings
ii. Infection Control Course for Healthcare Professionals
iii. Steam Receivers Safety Operator Course (Class VI) or equivalent
iv. Sterile Service Certificate Course or equivalent
Remarks :
For Serving HA Staff
1.
Selected candidate will be offered either contract or fixed term appointment for up to 3 years depending on his/her existing employment terms. Serving contract employees will be offered contract employment with an up to 15% total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity, subject to satisfactory completion of the contract. Serving permanent employee will be offered fixed term appointment after which the employee may be reverted back to his/her former substantive rank.
2.
The offer of salary and allowance (Cash Allowance, Fixed-flexi Allowance or Monthly Allowance) for serving employees upon changes in appointment will be made in accordance with prevailing policies.
For External Applicants
3.
Selected candidate will be offered contract employment for up to 3 years. Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity will be offered, subject to satisfactory completion of the contract.
4.
Retiring / retired HA staff who wish to continue working for HA after their normal retirement may also apply. If selected, the terms and conditions of employment will be offered in accordance with prevailing policies of the Retired and Rehire Mechanism of HA.

Selected candidate will be posted in Tin Shui Wai Hospital and may be required to work in another work location to meet service needs of the HA.
7.
Job rotation would be arranged for the selected candidate if required.
8.
May be required to perform on-call duties or work outside normal office hours.
9.
Renewal of contract will depend on funding, operational needs and appointee’s performance.
