Executive Officer II, Office of Research and MPhil & PhD Programmes

The CUHK Business School is a leading business school and a pioneer in business education in Hong Kong. Since its establishment in Hong Kong in 1963, the CUHK Business School has gained world recognition of nurturing business leaders with immense contributions in Asia Pacific. The School has been offering a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (MBA, MSc, MAcc, EMBA, MPhil, PhD) with over 4,800 students, as well as executive education. It has one of the most extensive alumni networks in the region, with over 40,000 alumni around the world.

The Office of Research and MPhil & PhD Programmes of the School is a specialised team to support faculty members, research students and the School in the pursuit of research excellence and impact. The Office works closely with academic units / offices within the School and the University as well as external stakeholders pertaining to research grants application, research programmes, impact research projects, knowledge exchange, etc.

Under the leadership of Associate Dean (Research) and Associate Dean (Impact and Innovation), the appointee will closely collaborate with co-workers to plan and support research-related activities as well as supporting students in their MPhil or PhD studies.

The appointee will (a) formulate, review, update and implement internal guidelines and procedures pertaining to research postgraduate programmes in compliance with University’s policies and regulations; (b) plan and support admission of research postgraduate programmes in collaboration with other stakeholders; (c) provide administrative advice to research students and oversee student matters handling among academic units of the School; (d) provide administrative and secretarial support to Committees; (e) support research assessment exercises, research grants, projects and funding exercises, School-based research centres; and (f) plan and support School-wide events and activities, and other impromptu duties. Working at flexible hours and duty travel may be required.

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree, preferably a Master’s degree; (ii) fulfilled the English language requirements set out on the website: https://www.hro.cuhk.edu.hk/en-gb/languageforeo; (iii) at least 3 years’ post-qualification work experience, knowledge of operation of research programmes, grant applications, research centres in higher education sector is an advantage; (iv) an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including fluency in Putonghua); (v) excellent organisational, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; and (vi) self-motivation, and the ability to work collaboratively as a team member and independently to meet the goals and deadlines. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test in both English and Chinese.

Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
