Job Description

SCHOOL OF DESIGN 

Executive Officer (Ref. 20052003-E)

Duties 

The appointee will be required to: 

(a) support the School in implementing policies and regulations on research, scholarly activities and grants matters; 

(b) provide administrative support and secretarial service to research-related activities particularly research assessment exercises;  

(c) provide administrative support to research postgraduate programmes, including but not limited to admission, registration, examination, research students events, research seminars, studentships and other research students related activities; 

(d) provide administrative support to research and project personnel-related matters such as recruitment, appointment, payment, etc.; 

(e) provide administrative support to research grants and projects; 

(f) provide secretarial and administrative service to committees, work groups and meetings on research; and 

(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean of School or his delegates. 

Qualifications 

Applicants should: 

(a) have a recognised degree with at least five years’ administrative experience in tertiary education sector including proven supervisory responsibilities; 

(b) have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua being an advantage; 

(c) have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and be a good team player with proactive and mature personality; 

(d) have good computer literacy, including database management and word processing; and 

(e) be able to work independently in a highly dynamic environment and meet extremely tight deadlines. 

Preference will be given to those with relevant experience in research administration. 

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written language proficiency test. 

Remuneration and Conditions of Service 

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
