Job Description
Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHEP, CAS) seeks outstanding candidates for two Postdoctoral Research Associate positions working on the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
IHEP has strong participation in a variety of physics analyses in CMS including studies of the Higgs boson, searches for physics beyond the standard model, and measurements of Standard Model processes. The group has contributed significantly to CMS in several areas of the construction, upgrade and will continue its commitments in the Endcap Calorimeter upgrade and L1 trigger upgrade projects.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in experimental particle physics, excellent data analysis, computing and programming skills and the ability to carry out an independent research program. Successful candidates are expected to play major roles in the analyses of Higgs boson, searches for new physics and strengthen our activities within the CMS Experiment.
The candidates would be based at CERN with the expectation of trips between CERN and IHEP Beijing. Positions are for an initial period of two years, with the potential for extension considered on a yearly basis thereafter. The annual base salary is about 250k CNY (Chinese Yuan) plus a supplement of 2000 CHF per month for working at CERN. The institute also provides rich opportunities for young talent scientists to apply funding and fellowships that could boost even more their benefits in academic career development.
Interested candidates should submit their application, including curriculum vitae with publication list and a statement of research interests, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent directly to Prof. Jin Wang at wangjin3@ihep.ac.cn.
