We are currently seeking an External Access Affairs Director – Oncology to join our European External Access Engagement (EAE) Team based in Rotkreuz, Switzerland. The successful candidate will be accountable for identifying policy challenges & opportunities for the Oncology franchise as well as defining & executing related strategies and tactics.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Define access priorities, related strategies and key projects/activities for Oncology/individual brands in alignment with the EAE lead, the brand teams and other key functions
  • Develop and execute policy activities/projects to address the strategic priorities of Oncology and monitor their implementation
  • Define Amgen positions for Oncology related policy and access challenges/opportunities and ensure overall alignment of narratives; in case of global positions evaluate/if needed adapt them from a regional perspective and advocate these positions across countries/affiliates
  • Build and sustain external relationships with key EU policymakers and officials, industry groups, professional organizations and other stakeholders in close alignment with the cross-functional team, especially with Brand Team, Value, Access & Policy and Corporate Affairs team
  • Be a key point of contact for the cross functional global, regional interfaces and the affiliates to support the implementation of the market access strategies for dedicated brands, thereby ensuring value is demonstrated to political and policy stakeholders at a European and national level
  • Inform and advise internal stakeholders on dynamics and trends in European level legislative and policy topics that stand to impact market access initiatives of brands to identify risks and opportunities to pursue favorable government policies and initiate related activities
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork among internal stakeholders on global, regional and affiliate level and support countries in the need analysis for specific brands and the development of national Government Affairs (GA)/Public Affairs Strategies and their implementation; help them to identify key stakeholders
  • Guide General Managers/GA related functions in countries to identify risk and develop local strategy related to brands (access/reimbursement etc.)
  • Provide trainings, tool kits and platforms to leverage regional/global tools and events to maximize impact at national level

 Your profile:

  • You have a Doctorate degree & 7 years of work experience preferably in government affairs team of pharma company and/or experience in working for government bodies or parliament and/or experience in public affairs consultancy with pharma clients and/or experience in local trade association or medical-scientific societies OR
  • Master’s degree & 10 years of work experience preferably in government affairs team of pharma company and/or experience in working for government bodies or parliament and/or experience in public affairs consultancy with pharma clients and/or experience in local trade association or medical-scientific societies OR
  • Bachelor’s degree & 12 years of work experience preferably in government affairs team of pharma company and/or experience in working for government bodies or parliament and/or experience in public affairs consultancy with pharma clients and/or experience in local trade association or medical-scientific societies
  • You possess a proven track record of strong performance in policy, government affairs and/or professional affairs (working with industry organizations, medical-scientific societies) 
  • You are proficient in translating political and policy trends into commercial impact analyzes and related actions
  • Representing corporate interests on a government level, in medical-scientific societies or industry organizations, driving key policy positions of responsibility and building coalitions as needed
  • Track record with political engagement to support market access and reimbursement for specific brands
  • Strong experience in leading complex projects in cross-functional teams across geographies
  • Experience working in Europe across multiple cultures
  • Excellent command of the English language
