Job Summary

As the Field Manufacturing Engineer - Asia, your responsibilities include assisting manager to source new factory partners, interfacing with current Asia suppliers, interfacing with clients (OEM / ODM / CM / Suppliers) and to work diligently towards improving SJS Products Asia’s new product and manufacturing performance through being proactive, inspections, supplier selection and customer service. Your position requires global travel. This position requires a candidate with a current driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to vendors and customers. Valid business travel expenses are reimbursable. This position is full-time and exempt.

Principle duties and responsibilities

• Identify/improve company’s product mix by vendor. Take necessary actions to strengthen AVL to meet/exceed customer expectations.

Daily:

• Identify/source new manufacturers/factories

• Review design concepts from SJS Products USA to determine the best processes and designs for our customers

• Inspection of First Articles, Production, Final as needed

• Discuss processes and DFM in quotation stage with factories

• Negotiate with factories on quotations (if needed)

• Build 3D data for quotations or product design improvement (if needed)

• Work with factories on new product development from concept to mass production (i.e. prototype, tooling design review, product DFM review, packaging development, etc…)

• Communicate between factories and SJS Products USA on changes during product development, shipping dates, packaging requirements, etc…

• Monitor/develop factory production to meet quality and schedule requirements

• Special projects as assigned

Weekly:

• Complete Weekly Activities Reports (WAR) and take part in engineering project update meetings

• Attend scheduled training seminars as assigned

• Maintain open and frequent communication with entire SJS Products Asia and USA team

• Special projects as assigned

Monthly:

• Special projects as assigned

TRAINING

• Complete SJS Products facilities training

• Participate in all factory training seminars as assigned

• Attend outside training seminars approved by the management

Experience/Skills

• Fluent in English

• Mechanical Engineering Degree required

• Minimum 6 years Manufacturing Engineering experience

• Design experience required

• 2 years minimum experience required working with CAD or Solid Works and Microsoft Office software

• Exceptional engineering, communication and project management skills required

• Requires personal vehicle for reimbursable business travel expenses.

Organizational Relationships

• The Field Manufacturing Engineer - Asia reports to the Reginal Manager, Asia.

• The Field Manufacturing Engineer - Asia interfaces with all SJS Asia staff as well as corporate Sales, Purchasing, Warehouse, Management, Quality Control, Accounting and Administration.
