Job Description

1.Sourcing/Development/Commercialisation

Follow UK brief to source factories, materials and components on a seasonal basis. Oversee the set up of materials and components library in Xiamen for UK Designer/Product Manager reference

Set up costing from development based on UK tech design packs,, suggesting how to engineer and commercialise product to the best possible price, whilst maintaining product performance, quality and ethical standards

Allocate new models to factory, based on awareness of supplier capabilities and limitations to eliminate costly transfers of models later in the process

Work with UK Designers on transfer of development tech pack to Xiamen Industrialisation Developer （is this actually a term that we use?） and oversee creation of development samples made to standard and calendar deadlines

Action any amendments from UK designer feedback where necessary and, when required, re-sample

Work with nominated mould suppliers and outsole suppliers to ensure design is interpreted correctly from UK designer sole brief, and is developed within price constraints

Ensure right product/right price.

Research new factory and country options taking advantage of duty rates

2. Salesman Sampling Programme

Following communication from UK designer / product manager after sample review ensure Xiamen team build sample specification for each model

Oversee raising of sample orders, working under Director’s approval on sample factory allocation and price. Ensure merchandisers link closely with UK imports team in order that all sampling costs are correctly logged on Regatta systems

Manage team to monitor critical path to ensure on time delivery of sample ranges

Act upon photography sample requirements based on UK team’s advice and deliver to business calendar deadlines

Ensure Xiamen Developer follows through on any salesman sample changes post/price meeings in the UK and updates specs and produces correct and final samples in preparation for handover to Bulk QC, for fitting and pattern trials to commence

Throughout the development and sampling period encourage Xiamen team collaboration with UK Designer to ensure sample ranges are made to a required quality and price

Ensure workbooks are set up with Xiamen developer and all updated in preparation for handover to Bulk QC

3. Bulk Programme

Lead seasonal negotiations under Director’s approval and issue prices to UK Product Manager for seasonal sales price meets

Monitor Xiamen Merchandiser’s collaboration with UK imports team on product set up, to make certain all costs are clearly visible and understood by both UK and Xiamen teams

Oversee merchandisers raising of purchase orders to suppliers

Ensure Bulk QC work with Product Developer in Xiamen for handover of product in readiness for pre-production samples

Oversee bulk grading of uppers and soles to ensure product fits and graded size trials are actioned and approved by Bulk QCs

Ensure footwear team carry out day to day communication with suppliers for production status and shipment schedule, solve technical and quality issues during production phase

Oversee pre production trials, monitoring product quality at all stages pre and during bulk production

Oversee nominated mould, sole and material supplier visits to ensure quality standards are met before shipment to factory

Lead the team on required testing standards by model and ensure suppliers follow through on testing. Take action when standards are not met and when required liaise with nominated testing houses

Ensure bulk QC’s carry out inline and final bulk inspections and issue QAL to supplier as confirmation goods are approved for shipment

4.Ethical Auditing

Monitor 3rd party ethical auditing results, follow up on action plans with supplier and feedback any concerns to Director. Ensure with Xiamen Management team that company commitment to auditing is understood by own team and any follow up carried out during factory visits

Report any instance of activity that does not comply with the Company’s ethical trading standards immediately to the Group Head of Footwear or a Director

New factory opportunities

Mold/last and any development costs so we can keep running check on costings

Corporate calendar update �C are dates being met as per calendar

Ethical Trading updates

Weekly reporting to Head of UK

Brief weekly update by factory on delivery and QC issues to keep us up to date

Team Management

Manage team to achieve team objectives, when required carry out performance and development reviews, setting up training programmes when required.

To undertake such tasks or duties as may be reasonably requested by your Line Manager or Senior Management Team.
