Job Description

As a Hardware Engineer in the Programmable Solutions Group, the candidate will work in the CSWE organization building FPGA test platform boards, programming interfaces, and backplane infrastructure for Intel's FPGA product families. These boards are used for power-on activity of new silicon and long-term quality assurance of Intel's Quartus FPGA design software.

The ideal candidate collaborates with the team in multidisciplinary research in the design, development, testing, and utilization of printed circuit boards, electrical components & connectors, mechanisms, materials, and/or circuitry, processes, packaging, cabinetry for central processing units CPUs, SOCs, FPGAs, and peripheral equipment.

In this role, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prepare specifications, evaluate vendors and analyze test reports.
  • Ensure products conform to targeted standards and specifications, develop plans and cost estimates, and assesses projects to analyze risk.
  • Develop and maintain PCB design libraries for correctness, quality of information, and design re-use.
  • Define procedures for productivity increasing design automation and reusable architecture.
  • Partner with contract manufacturers on the bill of materials selection, sourcing, and assembly.
  • Participate in power-on activities of systems after assembly.


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum education requirements and minimum required qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Relevant experience can be obtained through schoolwork, classes, project work, internships, and/or military experience. Additional preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ year's experience in schematic design entry and usage of printed circuit board CAD tools.
  • 5+ year's experience Extensive experience in schematic design for printed circuit boards, defining layout requirements, understanding tradeoffs in selection of various printed circuit board manufacturing stack up profiles and materials, and guide layout engineers through completion of projects to manufacture.
  • 5+ year's experience in developing and running simulations for signal and power integrity on PCBs, and have deep understanding of high speed transmission line (GHz+) theory, modeling, and optimization.
