Job Description
The British Council, China are looking for motivated and qualified ELT professionals to join our team of IELTS examiners.
IELTS is the worldwide leader in standardised testing of English language proficiency and we conduct tests in 58 Test Centres in 36 cities across China. Our wider work in language assessment includes the British Council Aptis assessment service, test preparation support, consultation and Assessment Literacy. We are an active contributor to the professional language assessment community in East Asia, most notably through the annual New Directions conference.
We are keen to build excellence in language assessment in China through the recruitment of qualified and motivated professionals. Recruitment is conducted at regular intervals and, at present, we are inviting suitably qualified and experienced individuals to apply to join our team of contracted IELTS Examiners
You will need:
An undergraduate degree or a qualification which can be demonstrated to be an equivalent to an undergraduate degree.
A TEFL/TESOL qualification from a recognised institution (at minimum certificate level) or EFL / ESOL related studies completed as part of an undergraduate / post graduate award course from a recognised institution (minimum certificate level equivalent) or A degree in Education (if supported by an undergraduate degree which includes studies focused on English language at point 1 above) .
A minimum of three years full-time relevant teaching experience (or equivalent part time) is required*. If an applicant’s EFL / ESOL qualification is at certificate level (or equivalent), one of the three years full-time teaching experience must be post EFL / ESOL certificate qualification. If the EFL / ESOL qualification is at Diploma level or higher, teaching experience post EFL / ESOL qualification is not required.
The required professional attributes and interpersonal skills.
The legal right to live and work in Mainland China (Please scan and send a copy of your current visa with the application).
*Note: ‘Full-time teaching’ is classified as a minimum of 14 hours of face-to-face teaching per week mainly to adults.
