International Innovation Hub and International Technology Transfer Center

Through the exploration of Syntegrative Education at XJTLU, the International Innovation Hub of XJTLU (IIH) plays a pivotal role in supporting XJTLU and the community to develop a globally influential Innovation and Entrepreneur Community. IIH integrates and synergizes learning, research, training, innovation, entrepreneurship and industrial development into an ecosystem to attain the co-visions of 'Western Silicon Valley; Eastern Wisdom-Lake', 'Stanford University in Silicon Valley; XJTLU at Wisdom-Lake' as advocated by XJTLU and its served community in Suzhou. This ecosystem will be a valuable and China-initiated contribution to the global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Community with a shared future for mankind. The International Technology Transfer Centre of XJTLU (ITTC) oversees the commercialisation of new technologies and provides a model for research in fields such as bio-technology, nanotechnology, bio-medical, information technology, communication, food, energy and health.

Technician and project developer of Maker Avenue

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Operation and Maker Avenue, the appointee will be responsible for:

• Work closely with consultant partner to establish the Health & Safety policy and precautions in the fab lab facility based on risk assessment of all the facilities. Ensure that Health and Safety rules are applied throughout by establishing monitoring process and by regular status checks in accordance to the university health and safety regulatory framework.

• Develop standard workflow and booking systems for the fab labs.

• Being familiar with the equipment and familiarizing yourself with any new equipment or tool being added to the lab, assessing the utilization and process of academic integration in safe manner for students and staff. Exploring utilization and limitations of each equipment.

• Organize and give trainings and inductions to students and staff in terms of access to facilities, establish and enforce rules for the fab lab.

• Supervise the technical team and students working in the fab labs to ensure that the Health & Safety policy is adhered to at all times.

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in the fabrication lab.

• Ensure regular maintenance and if required organize repair of the machines.

• Communicate regularly with line manager of use of equipment, and procurement of materials & new instruments, to suggest approaches and new developments in terms of equipment and material use and to liaise with suppliers to achieve best outcomes in terms of efficiency and cost.

• Communicate with students, to inform of issues relating to the fab labs.

• Conduct MIT accreditation for XJTLU fab lab.

• Support departmental events and activities with professional assistance.

• Manage the work flow during peak times of the semester,

• Provide technical support for rejuvenating the Student entrepreneurship park in XJTLU, and

• perform any other duties that might be assigned.

Applicants should:

• possess a post-graduate degree;

• have more than 3-year experience with a successful track record of related lab or incubator in a higher education institution or organization with strong international context;

• have knowledge of issues relating to the administration of the incubator and FabLab;

• be able to interact with academic staff internally and with external organizations;

• have demonstrable change management skills as deployed in a complex organization;

• have professional technical background of MIT Fab academy;

• Excellent attention to detail;

• Sense of customer focus;

• Tactful and enthusiastic with a “can-do” attitude; and

• have excellent written and spoken skills in English and Chinese.
