The Facilities Engineer in Redwood City, CA will lead the equipment reliability program, championing continuous improvements, running capital projects (up to $250k), and being the site specialist on facility and utility systems. The role combines the benefit of a small site (agile and broad responsibilities) with the structure, knowledge, and resources of a leading global pharmaceutical company.

What you will do:

  • Provide technical assistance in trouble-shooting commercial operations and facility equipment. Assess equipment failures and use findings to revise preventive maintenance tasks and/or modify equipment to eliminate failure mode.

  • Implement and manage reliability programs such as vibration monitoring, lubrication, IR, and water chemistry. Coordinate the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Program, undertaking activities such as mentoring operations staff in autonomous maintenance, early equipment management, and setting up technician skills and training matrices.

  • Create and/or execute documents associated with change controls, commissioning, and qualification.

  • Act as the site specialist on facility systems, including HVAC; water systems; waste treatment; electrical distribution; emissions abatement and monitoring; clean rooms; and automation.

  • Ensure that the facility operates in a compliant manner, initiating deviations when events occur and implementing any resulting CAPAs

  • Supervise outside vendors, contractors, and consultants. Ensure that their work is performed safely, is of a high standard, and accurately documented.

Essentials:

Education:

  • BS degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related field.

Required:

  • Minimum of four years of manufacturing or facilities engineering experience in a cGMP context.

  • Project management track record of delivering projects timely, in-full, and on-budget.

  • Available to perform after-hours and weekend work, including being on-call.

Desired:

  • Experience with computer maintenance management systems (ideally SAP).

  • Background in Reliability Centered Maintenance or similar programs (e.g. TPM, Lean, OpEx etc.).

  • Background in Facility System and Equipment.
