How will you make an impact?

The Facility Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the company's facility operations, manage staff, manage office moves and manage janitorial duties within the Transplant Diagnostics (TDX) business.

What will you do?

  • Assign work, make hiring decisions, supervise, train, discipline, and evaluate performance of subordinate staff.
  • Coordinate system repairs and monitor system performance.
  • Oversee and supervise maintenance technician team
  • Inspect sites regularly to identify problems and necessary maintenance.
  • Prepare weekly maintenance schedules and allocate work as per forecasted workloads.
  • Coordinate daily cleaning and maintenance activities.
  • Oversee all repairs and ensure that work is completed on time.
  • Recommend and implement unit goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures.
  • Recommend goals and objectives for strategic planning.
  • Manage the Facility Services budget, which includes reviewing and approving unit expenditures and preparing cost estimates for projects.
  • Provide technical expertise and direction regarding complex building maintenance and operational functions.
  • Maintain all inventory and equipment, and ensure proper storage.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations and practices on site.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance work.
  • Conduct follow-ups on all maintenance and repair work.
  • Conduct safety inspections as scheduled.
  • Establish strategies to meet workload demands on time
  • Monitors contractor performance and works closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed to specifications.
  • May act as the project coordinator for smaller sized projects.
  • Performs minor electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry and masonry work maintenance
  • Reconfigures, installs, positions and remounts modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
  • Assists the Manager, Facility & EHS in preparing the annual maintenance budget.
  • Performs other maintenance duties as assigned by the Manager, Facilities & EHS.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.
  • Follows all procedures regarding the safe utilization of tools and equipment; must know, understand and comply with all regulatory and GMP requirements.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

How will you get here?

Education

  • High school diploma; Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Five (5) years of full-time building maintenance/construction experience, which included experience performing carpentry, electrical work, plumbing work, painting, and mechanical work;

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills with capability in email, MS Office and related communication tools
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Requires good written and verbal skills.
  • Expected to troubleshoot and solve all of the problems encountered, referencing previous work experience, education and know-how.
  • Effective budgeting and performance management.
  • Fantastic organizational and leadership skills
  • Able to work well with others in various departments in a cooperative manner.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and carpentry is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multi-functional tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, and against strict time constraints.
  • Ability to use standard powered and non-powered tools.
  • Must be able to travel to various work-site locations as needed.
  • Must be able to read and understand mechanical blue prints, assembly drawings, bill of materials, equipment manuals, control schematics, and other technical manuals.
  • Must be able to be certified to operate a power handjack and forklift.
  • Must be able to machine parts using cut-off saw, bandsaw, drill press, lathe and milling machine.
  • Actively seeks and recommends equipment process improvements.
  • Carpentry skills are desirable.

Working Conditions

  • May be required to work evenings and/or weekend hours in order to keep facilities and equipment operational.
  • May be exposed to cold, heat, noise, dust, fumes, paint, chemicals, oil, or grease depending upon the area in which work needs to be performed.
  • May be required to gown-up to work in manufacturing and will wear hair covering on head, lab coat, and safety glasses with side shields.
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
  • Be able to walk, bend, stoop, balance, crawl and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to utilize/view a PC and/or monitor.
