The Philadelphia, PA site, which operates 24/7, manufactures a life-saving influenza vaccine, which is sold in the US, UK and other countries. Our product is aseptically filled into sprayers for nasal administration. The site consists of two geographic locations - a facility at Red Lion Road in NE Philadelphia has about 140 full-time employees and the Bensalem storage and distribution facility has about 5 employees. The facilities are about 8 miles apart and both are situated close to I-95, the city of Philadelphia, and Philadelphia International Airport. Operations continue year-round, with the production season being in the summer (typically May – August). Our site is highly collaborative where we show our Philly pride in all we do. The Facilities Technician in Philadelphia, PA is tasked with the operation, maintenance and repair of plant utility and manufacturing equipment in a technically based industry.  Work hand-in-hand in collaborative  team environment. 

What you will do:

  • Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, Electrical and utility equipment in support of a Large-Scale Biologics Manufacturing Facility, which operates 24/7.
  • Work on equipment associated with process equipment in a clean room environment to include: WFI water systems, RODI, Clean Steam Generators, Boilers / Hot Water systems, Waste Handling, CIP and air handling equipment.
  • Maintaining the refrigeration systems within cold rooms, refrigerators, freezers, ultra-low freezers (-80 ⁰c), incubators, cryogenic freezers, and HVAC systems.
  • Maintenance of Utility and facility equipment such as HVAC, air handlers, refrigeration, cold rooms, chillers, pumps & drives, electrical switch gear, power distribution equipment and emergency generators.
  • Tasked with reading mechanical schematics and piping diagrams P&ID’s, electrical schematics and single line diagrams and to write and utilize drawings, mathematics, handbook formulas.
  • Perform work in the following trades:  HVAC/refrigeration, electrical, or plumbing and use of basic hand tools.
  • Work in a clean room environment.
  • Complete any required (GxP) documentation, including logbooks and work orders.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School diploma required
  • Technical Trade school and/or apprenticeship or Military training with experience in a relevant field (pharma, industrial) preferred

Required:

  • Minimum of five (5) years in an industrial or commercial plant or building maintenance.
  • Basic computer skills and familiar with CMMS system.

Preferred:

  • Biotech/pharma experience
  • Licensed electrician, HVAC tech with universal certs, Boiler Tech with certifications
  • Millwright
