AstraZeneca has expanded and strengthened its respiratory products portfolio, We have made strides in bringing therapies to asthma patients. Our mission and vision are to develop differentiated therapeutics for widely prevalent respiratory disease conditions, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), by utilizing a proprietary drug delivery platform and existing therapeutic agents administered in metered-dose inhalers (MDIs). Join us as a Facility and Engineering Maintenance Director, at our Redwood City, CA site, the leading center of innovation in the West. As a successful candidate, you will be a prime driver of the strategic direction for their own Manufacturing and Facilities Engineering Department. In this role, you will support the delivery of manufacturing performance to achieve the agreed manufacturing plan, customer needs, and costs. This role will also lead the facilities maintenance group; developing policies and Standard Operating Procedures for equipment and facility maintenance.


What you will do:

  • Develop senior-level contacts with the supply chain, commercial services, and engineering functions to resolve issues that occur. Set priorities and manage a high rate of change. The role holder will spend time leading cross-functional, site, or global tor representing operations on projects. Will also be a member of the site leadership team.

  • Direct and supervise staff responsible for manufacturing engineering, plant maintenance, metrology, reliability, and project management to ensure optimum production equipment and site facility performance.

  • Provide leadership for project management, including developing and implementing project management standards and processes for all teams.

  • Partner with Process Technology & Development (PT&D) group to support the development of new technology.

  • Develop, implement and monitor/improve appropriate performance metrics for the site.

  • Partner with Corporate/Global Engineering teams and support groups to develop long-range facilities plans and business continuity plans. Develops business plan to cover all aspects of engineering and monitors alignment to the annual budget.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field (Process, Pharmaceutical, Chemistry)

Required:

  • Minimum of ten years of engineering experience

  • Minimum of five years in a GMP environment

  • Minimum of five years proven track record of attracting and developing talent, building capability, and driving performance in leadership roles

  • Strong understanding of Lean concepts, principles, and tools, (TPM)

  • Experience in fixed asset ownership, and regulatory inspections, and managing deviations

Desired:

  • Project Management Experience

  • Spray-drying technology
