FASHION WRITER

The Role:

We are looking for a Chinese Fashion Writer who is also bilingual in English, based in our Shanghai office. This role will be responsible for translating all of the features of our style guide “The Daily” and our online magazine, “The Journal”, from English to Chinese. You will be reporting to Chinese Editor.

Responsibilities:

• To translate our daily content online, in its entirety in an engaging, educating, stimulating tone that accurately captures the fashion brand tone of voice and ultimately selling style to the customer.

• Working closely with the Editor in order to continuously improve content and tone of voice.

• Gaining an insight in into the China fashion market and the typical Chinese consumer – tailoring tone of voice to specific localised preferences.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Chinese mother tongue required

• Fluent in English, both written and spoken

• Proven experience of translations within the fashion, editorial or related industry (fashion is a plus, but not a must)

• Proven ability to work to stringent deadlines

• Ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously

• Experience working in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment with competing deadlines and priorities

• Ideally magazine / editorial experience

• The ideal candidate will be experienced in translating from English into Chinese

• Possessing an understanding of the China fashion market / the Chinese consumer is a plus
