As a member of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Field Applications Team you will work with companies on the leading edge of semiconductor innovation as they develop and characterize the processes that will lead to the technologies of tomorrow.

We are seeking an applications scientist, who is primarily focused on providing technical expertise in support of Thermo Fisher Scientific's sales efforts at specific semiconductor customer sites in China. This is a highly technical and hands-on position and works closely with account, service, marketing and R&D teams. Our ideal candidate is highly motivated technical person with the ability to interface with customers, and has a passion for hands-on work in a fast-paced environment. This role involves working on the most modern TEM systems and being exposed to a wide range of application areas which help semiconductor companies in China to be successful with their process control, failure analysis and R&D needs.

This position is based in Wuhan, China

Responsibilities:

• Provide world-class process engineering at customer sites.
• Cultivate positive customer relationships and act as a high level customer interface for specific instrument/applications issues, acting as a technical expert, explaining complex technology details, giving in depth presentations, and assisting in technique development.
• Process development and other technical deliverables at the customer site.
• Deliver Best Practice Document customization to customer-specific processes, write production recipes and run qualification experiments to drive the use of Thermo Fisher Scientific's tools in production.
• Guide the customer in writing production recipes and qualification experiments to drive the production use of Thermo Fisher Scientific tools.
• Act as a primary communication conduit to the factory by reporting engineering and production issues from the customer to Thermo Fisher.
• Troubleshoot and report software and hardware issues and escalate as necessary.
• Provide feedback to engineering on system performance, features and problems.
• Support the market division by assisting with the Factory Acceptance Tests at Thermo Fisher Scientific when needed.
• Support the market division by assisting with the Customer Acceptance Tests (CAT), and initiation/stabilization phases of tool installs at customer sites.
• Recommend and advise on direction for potential applications consistent with customer requirements and technical feasibility.
• Provide technical support to SSD, R&D, Manufacturing, Customer Service and other departments as required.
• Travel as needed to support clients.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Typically requires a Master degree in science discipline.
• Typically requires approximately 5 years’ experience in a relevant commercial/research/production establishment with recent experience utilizing Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) technology in sample characterization.
• TEM Experience required
• Knowledge of advanced technology and diagnostics as well as operational optimization experience of analytical equipment; specifically TEM imaging and analytical techniques required.
• Excellent, enthusiastic, clear communication skills, both written and verbal, with a diverse audience is critical to the success of this position.
• Excellent customer interfacing and technical sales skills a must.
• Proven ability to interact with cross - functional and cross - cultural teams.
• Ability to travel both domestically as well as internationally and possession of a valid passport.
• Attendance is a required function of this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline
• Experience with semiconductor processing
