Job Description

The Materials and Structural Analysis Electron Microscopy (EM) business enables customers to find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries, increase productivity, and ultimately change the world. The EM business designs, manufactures, and supports the broadest range of high-performance microscopy workflows that provide images and answers in the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales.

Combining hardware and software expertise in electron, ion, and light microscopy and with deep application knowledge in the semiconductor market, the worldwide Electron Microscopy employees are dedicated to our customers' pursuit of discovery and to the resolution to global challenges.

The Mission

The Field Applications team, within the Sales and Service Division (SSD) organization, provides direct applications support for semiconductor customers around the world. As a member of this team, you will work with companies on the leading edge of semiconductor innovation as they develop and characterize the processes that will lead to the technologies of tomorrow. You will collaborate closely with customers and other internal Thermo Fisher groups, such as sales, marketing, and R&D, to develop solutions to customer application needs. In addition, you will enable customers to optimize the results and value of their Thermo Fisher tools through onsite applications training and support.

The ideal candidate will be located in Boise, Idaho

What will you do?

  • Cultivate positive customer relationships and act as main technical interface for customer
  • Manage technical applications at customer sites
  • Understand and solve customer challenges through development of automated solutions on DualBeam (FIB/SEM) tools
  • Develop production-ready recipes on DualBeam (FIB/SEM) tools
  • Deliver applications training and general customer support
  • Provide continuous feedback to the product groups on customer requests, tool performance, and potential issues in order to influence product development
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware issues and collaborate with factory teams to resolve issues
  • Ensure customer acceptance of new tools
  • Provide technical support to sales, R&D, manufacturing and other internal departments as required.
  • Travel as needed to support customers.

How will you get here?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • University degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field (advanced degree is preferred)
  • Knowledge and recent hands-on experience with DualBeam (FIB/SEM) systems
  • 5 or more years of experience in a relevant position utilizing DualBeam (FIB/SEM) systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to comprehend complex data and troubleshoot issues
  • Proven ability to interact successfully with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 40% and possession of a valid passport

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with semiconductor technology and industry
  • Basic understanding of computer programming
  • Experience with plasma FIB tools
