YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, R&D Specialist III, are to: 

 

  • Solve problems of moderate to extensive scope, with team members in other analytical labs;
  • Optimize workflows;
  • Validate methods using multiple data sources;
  • Demonstrate good judgment when identifying and implementing process improvements;
  • Be accountable for cross-functional work in multiple platforms/process areas;
  • Execute various lab analysis in a high throughput setting typically, a routine, technically diverse and sophisticated assignment using robotics to deliver daily/weekly targets;
  • Adhere to established protocols and techniques;
  • Operate and troubleshoot instrumentation;
  • Solve problems autonomously using multiple data sources;
  • Prioritize and coordinate work within a large team and provide training to contingent workforce;
  • Maintaining detailed record keeping and required documentation;
  • Achieve commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and best practices;
  • Help design and analyze the results of experiments under supervision of senior scientists;
  • Perform a variety of molecular biology and biochemistry experiments;
  • Prepare reports with large data sets for supervisor review, under time constraints, across various project types;
  • Communicate and interpret results of experiments, production KPIs, cost/benefit analysis and lab related issues to partners and key stakeholders;
  • Thrive on meeting challenges, insist on high quality deliverables;
  • Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills and will have proven initiative in some categories of accomplishments, either individually or as part of a group;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of specialized lab and scientific techniques.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Non-degreed with at least 12 years relevant experience OR B.S with at least four years of related experience in academia or industry OR M.S. in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering or related field with at least one year of relevant experience;
  • Strong molecular biology, plant biology, plant physiology, crop science, entomology, weed science or plant pathology acumen with the ability to independently design experiments and analyze data;
  • High throughput laboratory or field automation experience with mechanical aptitude for operating and troubleshooting;
  • Automation proficiency with data analysis and visualization software.
