CVRM Field Medical Manager

As a CVRM Field Medical Manager you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives.

AstraZeneca’s strategy in CVRM focuses on ways to reduce morbidity, mortality and organ damage by addressing multiple risk factors across cardiovascular (CV) disease, diabetes and chronic kidney-disease indications.  The patient-centric approach is reinforced by science-led life-cycle management programs and technologies, including early research into regenerative methods.

The Field Medical Manager is responsible for the operational excellence of their field medical team in support of scientific leadership for AstraZeneca.  This person will play a critical role as manager, coach and leader the team by providing operational guidance along with skills & capability training in accordance with global/local standards

This person will be a key member of the local CVRM medical leadership team and contributes to the planning and execution of AZ’s corporate and medical strategies in its priority disease areas.  You will work closely with the local medical and commercial teams, including the sales team, and be responsible for the execution of the field medical strategy in support of the organization's business strategy and objectives.

Typical Accountabilities:

  • Manage and support field medical team performance including accurate and balanced scientific communication, KPIs achievement, effective territory management, stakeholder engagement/interactions, execution of medical affairs deliverables for assigned projects and initiatives.
  • Conduct field visits to coach and review team members capabilities
  • Resource optimization and organizational effectiveness - ongoing assessment of field medical team resources to fulfil operational requirements. 
  • Working closely with the medical affairs managers giving input to the medical strategy that aligns the field medical plans with therapeutic scientific strategy.  
  • Provide regular updates to organization on delivery versus plan, variance to plan and proposed mitigation.
  • Provide guidance on collection of medical insight and communicate actionable items to internal stakeholders as appropriate
  • Lead and manage change initiatives as needed in the field to enable positive business outcomes
  • Serve as a role model fostering personal accountability and ownership of individual and team success
  • Communicate, develop and role model AZ culture and AZ Values & Behaviors
  • Ensure self and team operate within the relevant Codes of Conduct, SOPs and local regulation
  • Ensure self and team understand AZ policies when engaging HCPs and external stakeholders

The ideal candidate will have:

  • University degree in a health-related scientific field, such as MD, PharmD or PhD.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in pharmaceutical industry preferably in Medical Affairs or Clinical Research
  • Extensive experience in people management
  • Understanding of multiple aspects of Medical Affairs
  • Experience in relationship and stakeholder management
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal as well as oral and written communication skills
  • Driving license, and willingness to drive within whole country
