We have an opportunity for a Field Medical Manager in the Respiratory therapeutic area.  

The Field Medical Manager interacts with both internal and external stakeholders and provides medical and clinical expertise in priority therapeutic areas and builds AZ scientific leadership. The role focuses on the development of professional relationships with External Experts (EEs), building deep scientific understanding of AstraZeneca compounds by engaging EEs in ESRs (External Scientific Research), scientific exchange meetings and advisory board meetings.  In addition, the Medical Manager will input into Brand Strategy and take the lead in the design and implementation of medical activities aligned with Brand Strategy. Further internal accountabilities include the delivery of medical education and clinical support to medical professionals, training sales teams and involvement in development of brand strategy.

This position reports to the Medical Lead.

AstraZeneca holds a unique position in respiratory disease, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), with a range of differentiated potential medicines in development by leveraging novel combinations, biologics and devices. The pipeline also has a number of promising assets in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

Typical Accountabilities:

  • Build, enhance and maintain the scientific engagement with External Experts (EEs)
  • Develop and engage EEs in collaboration with line manager or TA lead
  • Develop and implement the local medical plan to address unmet medical needs and ensure alignment with the brand plan
  • Medical & Scientific Support for internal stakeholders
  • To establish AstraZeneca as a scientific leader through proactive, updated and effective Medical input
  • Provide medical input into the Life Cycle Management of priority brands and TAs to meet unmet medical needs
  • Establish the governance and ensure overall adherence to processes and regulation [include but not limited to patient safety, clinical trials, promotional activities]

The successful candidate profile should have:

  • University degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Biology or in other health sciences and Master’s degree is required
  • MD or PhD is highly preferred
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in pharmaceutical industry, preferably in Medical Affairs
  • Project management  and execution skills
  • Cross functional team player with excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory environment
  • Availability to travel
  • Fluent in Greek and English
