YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Field Testing Assessment Scientist II, are to: 

 

  • Hold accountability for executing field studies to generate safety data including grain and plant sample production for corn and soybean within the Bayer internal field network for the seed and trait portfolio;
  • Be responsible for executing complex field method development trials that will be executed globally;
  • Be responsible for innovating field design solutions for unique complex regulatory issues by collaborating with Regulatory scientists, Breeding scientists and Field Solutions scientists and actively brings field innovations developed by these organizations to Regulatory Sciences;
  • Ensure consistency and efficiency of studies by responding rapidly to existing and emerging global regulatory changes through innovative solutions, altered work practices and policy documents;
  • Provide technical field trial expertise on unique Regulatory studies to various global government regulators and scientists during field tours and visits;
  • Drive process improvement, automation and IT solutions and write SOP’s for complex technical operations and processes;
  • Critically analyze project plans, customer requests and work with all relevant stakeholders to look for optimal solutions with respect to scientific relevance, resource needs and timelines;
  • Ensure compliance with BCS safety, BioSafety and stewardship standards and traceability through appropriate quality management and information systems.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least seven years of relevant experience OR Master of Science with at least five years of relevant experience OR Scientist or Ph.D. with at least three years of experience in Breeding, Genetics, Agronomy, and Biology;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of agronomic principles;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the regulatory and testing requirements for biotech and/or plant protection products;
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory compliance requirements for USDA and EPA regulated biotech and chemistry products and working knowledge of GLP Quality Management Systems and/or ISO quality systems;
  • Ability to solve technical and scientific problems and to initiate improvements in working practice;
  • Project management skills to successfully deal with workload and study planning issues;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills;
  • Experience interacting with internal and external clients and the development of solid internal and external network contacts;
  • Skillset to ensure project plans and status are transparent and that risks, issues, and results are clear to all involved parties;
  • Executes responsibilities with knowledge, accuracy, persistence, resilience and creativity seeking to work both independently and collaboratively.
