• Provide financial planning and tracking of operating expenses, headcount reporting, supporting the quarterly closing, annual budgeting, latest estimates, and long-range planning processes. The role will start with the areas of Business Unit and several functions (e.g. HR and Finance) to be further defined.
• Provide analytical support to senior management related to key decisions on Revenue, Opex spending, resource planning and investment opportunities.
• Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost savings within the functional area, present those opportunities to local functional management, and assist in implementing them.
• Develop and implement business processes in accordance with corporate and local policies and procedures
• Work with and effectively partner with the team members of local Finance, Regional Finance, and Corporate Finance (including Accounting, Treasury, Tax, etc.) from operational perspectives
• Provide direction to business partners on key corporate/ local financial policies and procedures such as Sarbanes-Oxley and departmental policies to ensure proper GAAP treatment of functional expenses.
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to properly control the functional expenses

Basic Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
• 8 or more years of progressive controlling, finance and accounting experiences
• Detail oriented, strong analytical and organizational, skills
• Good written, verbal communication and presentation skills
• Thrive in ambiguous situations and team environment, and adapt to work in a start-up, evolving environment and dynamic organization
• Fluent in English (TOEIC 800+) and Japanese
• Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Pharmaceutical/Biotech experience
• MBA and/or CPA/Chartered Accountant
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to influence personnel across functions and levels.
• Ability to think strategically.
• Working knowledge of key finance systems (such as Hyperion, Tableauand SAP)
