This role can be based out of Algeria, Morocco or Tunisia
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
Maximize value of the Affiliate’s operations by acting as a strategic partner to the General Manager, partnering with the Affiliate Management Team and the Regional Management as a trusted advisor, proactively identifying opportunities and risks to consistently deliver on the business objectives.
Provide on-going leadership and support to the finance team within the Affiliate, ensuring:
- integrated Affiliate/Brand/Functional team support – understanding the environment and Patient Journeys, ultimately maximizing the P&L;
- appropriate stewardship and controls throughout the Affiliate’s operations, incl. Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting, Internal Controls, Demand Management, P2P, OTC, R2R, Purchasing, Treasury, Tax, Risk Management;
- supervision of local administrative functions in terms of Business Technology, Office Management, Fleet Management, Environment, Health and Safety
- promotion of integrity of financial information and documentation;
- effective internal and external consolidation and reporting;
- internally focused and externally engaged, with finance contacts from a variety of stakeholder groups
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Decision Partner
- Partner with the General Manager, the Affiliate Management Team and functional leads, providing strategic support in the decision making, proposing educated and effective solutions;
- Monitor and identify opportunities and risks as they arise and collaboratively work to develop appropriate solutions and contingency plans;
- Effectively and clearly communicate actual results with variance analysis and commentary to internal and external stakeholders.
- P&L Management
- Supervise the planning cycles for the LRP, annual plans and LBEs in the Affiliate, individual countries/brands/functional campaigns. Provide guidance to the finance team within the Affiliate, ensure plans are accurate and well supported;
- Work closely with Affiliate team to accurately forecast sales and financial performance by utilizing and challenging commercial models and expense assumptions;
- Coordinate individual countries’ and brands’ P&Ls, maintain overview of budget and spending.
- Financial Reporting and Data Interpretation
- Coordinate collaboration among Financial Shared Services (FSS) and local teams to review, prepare and complete timely, well documented and accurate month-end closing;
- Supervise the monthly analysis to include appropriate variance analysis and provide clear and concise commentary to expand management’s understanding and drive for results;
- Manage the tracking and analysis of actuals versus budget for the Affiliate, individual countries, brands, functions and specific campaigns;
- Lead the Affiliate internal and external reporting/consolidation bringing numbers to life.
- Support to Internal Stakeholders
- Act as a single point of contact for the General Manager and MEA Regional team on financial topics;
- Coordinate support to all matrix organizations as needed under the operating model (FSS, Purchasing, VLOG, Trade Finance, Supply Chain, Tax and Treasury.
- Operational Excellence
- Lead the monthly S&OP process. Monitor variables affecting supply and distribution performance and ensure corrective action
- Sponsor Affiliate’s problem-solving, investment maximizing and process improvement initiatives;
- Supervise key distributor relationships in the Affiliate; ensure effective inventory management, good DSO, and timely collections.
- Supervise local administrative functions in terms of Office Management, Fleet Management, Environment, Health and Safety. Promote good asset management.
- Provide guidance to optimize Affiliate’s processes and ensure compliance. Promote proper internal controls by establishing effective internal policies and procedures, review monitoring of compliance, ensure adherence to local legislation.
- Internal Controls and Compliance
- Ensure financial results are recorded in compliance with Statutory Accounting requirements, AbbVie financial policies, Sarbanes Oxley, and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Enforce and enhance internal controls by providing guidance and counsel to affiliates and commercial staff in areas of Corporate Finance Manual (CFM) policies, divisional internal control procedures and International policies.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
Lead and develop a strong, high-performing team of 3 direct reports
Qualifications
- Business/Financial/Accounting bachelor or master’s degree
- Fluency in English. French or Arabic will be an advantage.
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in finance/accounting at a senior level with evident success, preferably gained in a Healthcare company or FMCG.
- Commercially minded and with prior experience working with commercial organizations. Able to build effective relationships with peers and cross functionally with partners outside of team to enable higher performance.
- Self-motivated, focused on achieving common goals and success, dealing comfortably with ambiguity, uncertainty, and risk.
- Ability to build strong highly efficient teams, with the energy and courage to lead others though anticipated obstacles and challenges. Steps up and takes leadership to own tougher challenges.
