The department:
The Acquisitions, Investments and Financial Advisory (“AIFA”) team is a global and fast-paced group that is closely involved in major transactions and strategic initiatives undertaken by ENGIE. The team is responsible for leading the valuation and risk analysis of new projects (including preparation of financial models) and for the elaboration of financing plans, selection of funding sources / banks, and structuring and execution of M&A and project financing transactions.
Reporting line:
The Financial Advisor reports to the Head of AIFA China based in Beijing.
Primary Objective:
- Support the Head of AIFA in relation to new projects, M&A transactions, project financing activities and preparation of files for investment approval.
Responsiblities:
- Ensure compliance with investment guidelines and methodology, including adherence to global AIFA procedures.
- Develop and/or update financial models to support investment decisions and other recurrent activities (e.g. impairment tests, project updates, lookbacks) always ensuring its compliance with group guidelines. Maintain responsibility for the accuracy and correct incorporation of relevant inputs to such models. Propose and implement relevant sensitivity analysis for investment files.
- Identify main project economic and financial risks and advise on the appropriate mitigation factors and definition of appropriate contingencies.
- Participate in the preparation of financing plans, selection of funding sources / institutions;
- Review and help establish contractual frameworks and allocation of risks;
- Develop adequate and efficient financial tools, identify key financial indicators to be applied and monitored for investment decisions;
- Maintain market intelligence about M&A opportunities, monitoring and assessing competitors’ approaches on financial aspects and financing structures;
- Maintain macro-economic and equity / debt capital market statistics updated on a regular basis;
- Use and manage relationship with external advisors
Requirements:
- Graduate degree in economics, business administration or engineering;
- Additional post-graduates such as Master in Finance or Business Administration is a plus.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in valuation of projects and preparation of business plans.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and utilizing detailed, Excel-based, financial models. VBA knowledge is a plus.
- Good understanding of local financial products, banking system and capital markets
- Previous knowledge in the Power, Infrastructure and/or Energy sectors (including services related activities) is highly appreciated.
- Experience in the renewable energy industry is a plus
- CFA concluded or in progress is a plus.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills (results-oriented but still looking at issues in a very detailed manner);
- Accurate, pragmatic, ethic;
- Ability to identify, challenge and present the key aspects and potential issues of a project;
- Ability to work in with a multidisciplinary team and in multi-cultural environments;
- Ability to work on several projects in parallel and to work effectively under pressure;
- Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills;
- Good interpersonal skills, strong team spirit;
- Good organizational and planning skills.
- Fluent spoken and written English and Chinese are mandatory, French is a plus
