Job Purpose

SDL seeks a financial analyst with strong analytical abilities and Excel skills. This role will provide the employee an opportunity to grow and develop within a fast moving and growing based business and working closely with the business functions and exec management team to provide insight and analysis to drive business performance.

 

As a member of the Commercial Finance team you will be responsible for the preparation of key variance analysis and forecasting information for the executive team of the business. The role will involve liaison with Senior Managers, and other business partners within the SDL group.

 

Key tasks:

 

  • Preparation of various deliverables to support both internal and external financial reporting needs, including analytic commentary on regional/country performance and the preparation of supplementary financial analysis for management and other stakeholders;
  • Leading certain month end close activities, ensuring that relevant deadlines are met;
  • Analysis of revenue/cost trends by region/vertical;
  • Ownership of consolidated revenue & cost models;
  • Support Commercial Finance Business Partners with value add analysis;
  • Support the Finance team in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasting in accordance with group timelines;
  • Provide assistance to the management team and financial controllers on specific request for analysis;
  • Proactively investigate unusual or unexpected results (analysis and questioning) Qualifications & Pre-Requisites.

Qualities and Experiences:

 

  • Strong mathematics, economics or business studies qualification;
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a finance role;
  • Advanced user of Excel, capable of working with large data sets;
  • Experience of reporting and analysis and able to explain findings;
  • Ability to present and analyse reports for management;
  • Highly resourceful with a willingness to get involved and roll-up sleeves to get a job done;
  • Demonstrable experience working well under pressure to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and focus;
  • Effective communication skills coupled with the ability to reason, persuade and influence;
  • Interested in fast moving technology or service businesses beneficial;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Team player;
