Financial Analyst - 15 month contract

Financial Analyst will assist in the financial planning & analysis and decision support for a specific business unit (retail or veterinary) within RC Canada. Key mandate for this role is to provide the linkage of market/operational performance with financial reporting and analysis. 

Responsibilities include actively participating in the timely and accurate development of the Plan and forecast and distributing the actual financial reporting and associated analysis necessary to manage and optimise business performance.

 

What are we looking for?

  • 3+ years of Financial, Planning and Analysis experience in consumer-packaged goods environment or other applicable industry
  • University degree in Business or equivalent level of industry experience
  • Excellent analytical skills; operates with the business model in mind
  • Advanced excel and financial systems skills including Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of SQL databases, Business Objects and CRM systems an advantage
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet deadlines/execute in a fast pace and changing environment
  • Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and can present analysis clearly - verbally and written
  • Have process improvement mind-set
  • Open minded, curious, organized self-starter

 

What would be your key responsibilities?

  • Preparation of management reporting package for business partners (including senior management and finance function). Provide analysis and insight to enable proactive decisions to manage performance in line with objectives.
  • Work closely with the broader finance team to support key initiatives and improve reporting, controls, and governance.
  • Implement KPIs and Dashboards required by Finance, Operations, Sales and Marketing and P&O).
  • Responsible for the compilation and accuracy of the financial and operational reporting with a view to continuous improvement on analytics, standardization, and automation of key reports.
  • Validate and assemble/analyze all data on historical sales, market trends, penetration, promotions, new launches, seasonality and present analysis to various stakeholders.
  • Create, maintain, and make recommendations related to channel/customer profitability.
  • Actively participates in the preparation and analysis of the annual Plan. Analyze trends and/or works with business leaders to gather and consolidate assumptions.
  • Participates in system implementations, BI tool upgrades and continuous improvement on processes/procedures to drive efficiencies and solid internal controls.
  • Establish close working relationships with Sales Forecasting and Planning Business Analyst to understand Revenue drives/analysis of performance against Plan and input into quarterly forecasting model.
  • Support and own the development of key financial analysis processes for the team such as pricing modeling, revenue management, ROI analysis, key account strategy and customer profitability.
  • Support ad hoc requests/projects from the business.
  • Adhere to applicable Quality and Food Safety Policies and Quality Management System requirements to ensure compliance to MARS standards.
  • Demonstrate a quality culture in actions, words and spirit
  • Other duties as assigned
