Job Overview
 
The engineering management team of R&D Powertrain Nafta is responsible for all budget related issues with regard to the Powertrain R&D Department in Redford.  The team is responsible for budget planning, reporting, monthly/yearly closing activities, and accounting tasks like invoicing, goods receipts, and invest controlling.  The team reports to the L3-department of engineering management of TP/BM in Stuttgart (TP/BMC). Regular interaction with colleagues in Germany is essential for this team in order to maintain international alignment of budget values, as well as general processes and methods.

Responsibilities
 
 
Support of annual OP and EA planning process for the respective cost centers, projects and capacities
Monitor budget actuals for cost centers and projects, as well as create/revise forecasts and financial KPIs on a monthly basis
Support and resolve all budget, capacity or time keeping system related issues for engineers in respective cost centers
Give steering impulse and make recommendations for necessary decisions or actions
Carry out accurate and on time month-end, quarter, and year-end close for TP/PN
Submit/maintain budget/costs in financial tools/systems at all finance/controlling relevant milestones (e.g. MIS Cross, MIF)
Reconcile TP/PN Profit Center P&L and WIP statements
Prepare monthly debit/credit memos for customer projects
Maintain reporting database
Maintain Engineering Management Tools and Systems (cbFC, Essbase, Jamis, FIT)
Act as key contact for accounting, finance, and purchasing
Continuously improve local and global processes and financial models
Understand federal regulations in order to handle financial interactions for TP/PN federally funded projects
Provide financial reporting and Audit support for government contracted projects  
 

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university/college with 3+ years of related experience required

- Expertise in cost center and project Controlling; Experience in engineering management required


- Ability to quickly and efficiently create presentations in Powerpoint appropriate for target audience required


- Expertise in cbFC (SAP), MIS Cross, DIBS, Jamis required


- Strong presentation skills required


- Strong analytical and logical problem solving skills required


- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Highly developed written and oral communication skills required


- Willingness to work flexible hours in order to meet deadlines and collaborate with different time zones required


- Ability to work independently and take personal initiative to generate and implement ideas in order to continuously improve work environment, systems, tools, and processes required


- Willingness to be a team player required


- Flexibility to adapt and take on new responsibilities as needed or assigned required


- Expertise in Microsoft Office applications and advanced level in excel (e.g. pivot table, macros) required


- German language skills preferred


- Knowledge and Experience of global TP/BM R&D and controlling processes and methods preferred
