The Company sells its market-leading NIOX® asthma management products directly to specialists in the United States, United Kingdom, China and Germany, and in a wide range of other countries through its network of partners. In the United States, Circassia has a commercial collaboration with AstraZeneca in which it has the commercial rights to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) treatments Tudorza® and Duaklir®. In order to support these activities we are currently seeking a Financial Controller

Position Summary

The Financial Controller, China is responsible for leading the financial function of Circassia’s China operations. The primary function of this position is to manage the company’s financial and accounting functions, develop short- and long-term plans, monitor financial performance, ensure adherence to financial reporting requirements locally and internationally and advise senior management on financial matters.

The Director will ensure that the financial infrastructure is established to support and position the Company for rapid growth.

Key Responsibilities of Role

The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Setting up, implementing and ensuring compliance with the accounting procedures, systems and Corporate Governance requirements including internal financial controls to remain compliant with all government regulations, best industry practices and consistency with corporate headquarters procedures where appropriate.

  • Preparation of monthly, interim and year end financial reports and other management and operation reports required by corporate headquarters and/or government authorities in line with regulatory and headquarters standards.

  • Managing all tax planning and compliance with all applicable taxes including payroll, VAT and corporate tax.

  • Performance of monthly, interim and year end financial close processes to ensure consolidation of the Company’s results into the group financial statements and management reports in a timely manner.

  • Management of the Company’s auditors for all statutory audits including tax and local audit requirements

  • Treasury management including daily cash flow and payments management.

  • Establish, manage, motivate and lead the finance team in China in line with resourcing and company requirements to support overall business strategy

  • Driving the financial analysis and planning process, including short- and long-term budget development, as well as assess organizational performance against the budgets and plans.

  • Developing and managing all financial analysis of customer contracts and other financial modelling for investment decisions.

  • Providing corporate headquarters financial personnel with the data and information that assists in making key decisions and providing key indicators to monitor business performance and guide strategic decisions.

  • Support the Commercial function

  • Support and ensure compliance with any QA and compliance guidelines

  • Collaboration and implementation of strategic initiatives with senior management

  • Support the implementation of a new ERP system in China

  • Participating in initiatives and/or other activities as directed.

Qualifications and/or experience required to perform the role

  • Previously qualified ideally from one of the big four accounting firms.
  • 10 years post qualified experience. Likely to have spent 5 years either in a blue chip or rapidly changing organisation.
  • Business Partnering skills
  • Proven experience of multiple finance and accounting disciplines including but not limited to accounts payable, receivable, financial planning and analysis, corporate tax and payroll
  • Complete fluency in verbal and written English language
  • Impeccable record of integrity, fair dealing, intelligence and enthusiasm
  • Prior experience in a pharmaceutical company an advantage
  • IFRS knowledge and understanding of differences between IFRS and local accounting standards
  • Ideally Pharmaceutical or Medical Device experience.

  • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with little or no supervision, but with the good judgment to know when to involve others or ask for guidance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal organizational and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with strong attention to detail in a business with changing priorities.
  • Must be able to handle highly sensitive and confidential information (discretion is of utmost importance).
  • Demonstrated ability to set example and maintain a positive culture and environment for company.
  • Excellent computer skills required including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Advanced level of Microsoft Excel is preferred.
