You will be joining a group of other highly talented, collaborative firmware engineers responsible for delivering innovative solutions for leading Oral Health care devices while having fun along the way. The firmware team is part of the larger Embedded Systems team that consists of Hardware engineers, Software engineers and ES Test Engineers that work closely with other cross-functional teams to develop products from concept to high volume production.

What will you be doing?

As the Firmware Engineer, you will be responsible for innovating, developing and maintaining firmware for the entire portfolio of Philips Oral Healthcare products including Sonicare products.

Working closely with other team members within the Firmware, Hardware and Test teams, you will be responsible for the creation of reusable firmware components. With multiple tools at your disposal, you will be tasked with writing quality firmware. With your experience, you will also have the opportunity to share your knowledge and expertise and bring in new WoW as a fresh perspective for the team.

You will also work with other cross functional teams to understand product vision and have the ability to translate that into features and technical requirements for the team.

Minimum qualifications :

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science/Electrical/Electronic or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience in a similar discipline

  • 5+ years of recent experience with C working on bare metal & multithreaded (Real-time operating system) Embedded systems (Architecture, design and coding)

  • Experience with various communication protocols and interfaces, (I2C, SPI, BLE, UART etc.) and the ability to read analog and digital circuit schematics in order to develop requirements for low level drivers and hardware specific features.

  • Experience with good Software engineering practices including Unit testing

  • Hands-on experience with new hardware bring up, using logic analyzers, scopes and other tools to root cause and solve complex system issues spanning hardware/firmware/software

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with engineers with varying levels of experience, capable of communicating design ideas

  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal), interpersonal skills and experience in presenting to business and technical teams in an effective and persuasive manner

  • Balance short term versus long term actions, strategic vs tactical requirements, while continuing to align the architectural road map to achieve the strategic vision

Desired Experience:

  • Experience within a regulated environment (e.g. FDA, FAA)
