Eaton’s Corporate Division is currently seeking a Fixed Asset and Project Accounting Supervisor to join our team. This position is based at our Beachwood, OH location. No relocation assistance will be provided for this position, only candidates within 50 miles of Beachwood, OH will be considered. Position Overview: This position is responsible for establishing budgets and managing the financials, forecasts and reporting of mid to large corporate global programs for corporate capital initiatives with costs ranging up to and above $100M. A number of these programs are international, multi-faceted, and complex, so this position advises finance, IT, and senior management on the accounting treatment for capital for both hardware products (tangibles) and software (intangibles). Corporate software projects/programs are initiatives managed by Eaton Center senior management, and global initiatives are implemented throughout Eaton. Examples of Corporate programs and costs are: Unify $130M, Optimus Phase 1 $13.6M, Ariba Self-Guided Buying Phase 1 $2.2M and Phase 2 $4.5M, and Program Link $10M. This position is also involved in Corporate Payroll initiatives which is the implementation of Kronos payroll in the US and international plants. This position manages an average of twenty projects/programs simultaneously. Providing accounting guidance and communicating with senior level management is a key part of this position. This role is critical to managing Eaton's general ledger for major capital projects by ensuring accurate and compliant project financials (i.e., cash flow, balance sheet and income statement). Recording software capital is an accounting requirement per FASB ASC 350-40 and is a key area of audit focus. Making what matters work at Eaton takes the passion of every employee around the world. In this function you will: Support the month and year end closing processes for the PA and FA modules. Delegate tasks within the team to share efforts for project management and system maintenance. Create complex, global, multi-project CARS to obtain senior management approval for capital spend. All costs pertaining to purchases, services, internal resources, and external consultant work are evaluated on the basis of prescribed accounting rules to determine the appropriate classification. The resulting conclusion and the basis for it are then explained to senior management. Read and interpret complex, external contract proposals involving costs up to several million dollars to understand and determine if the work to be performed qualifies as capital or expense. Support and training US and international finance and project managers on the monthly accounting, forecasting and reporting for capital projects to ensure that these responsibilities are properly handled from start to finish. Analyze project and program costs and comparing them to the approved budget to determine how the project is trending. The project financials are then given to the project manager and senior business manager sponsoring the project. Host meetings with local finance personnel and project managers to understand the extent of progress made and supporting the monthly accruals for capital and expense. Prepare special reports in response to requests received from IT, senior business management and IT finance. These requests typically arrive monthly and need to be compiled in a short period of time. Perform monthly reconciliations and monitoring the construction-in-progress accounts for the US Corporate ledger to minimize variances between Oracle modules. Why work at Eaton? Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting with Relevant Experience in Financial Applications is required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate and/or public accounting. Monthly accounting close experience is required along with establishing budgets and profit plans. Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future. No relocation assistance will be provided. Candidates must be located within 50 miles of Beachwood, OH to be considered. Preferred qualifications: MBA, CPA or CMA is preferred. Capital accounting experience is preferred. Solid understanding of US GAAP and Eaton's financial policies Ability to understand, interpret and implement corporate policies and procedures to global capital projects Strong knowledge in the creation of project budgets, the accounting close and forecast processes Strong analytical skills to calculate variances and determine the reason for the variances Knowledge of capital accounting and the ability to determine costs that qualify for capital versus expense Working knowledge of foreign currency ledgers and the conversion to US currency Strong PC Skills: General ledger systems, Sub ledger systems, Excel Supervisory/management experience - both direct reports and project management Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities on a constant basis while maintaining a high standard of quality Excellent written and oral communication skills - ability to interact with management at various levels and various international locations Eaton also considers qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with local laws.
