Purpose of the Position: Provide forecast analytics for business needs including monthly preparation of forecast that includes analysis of customer demand, market indicators, statistical models and product manager input. Additional responsibilities include preparation and analysis of key metrics and accuracy targets. 

 

Day to Day Responsibilities: 
• Combine detailed market understanding, external environmental factors (e.g. CAPEX), forecast accuracy, and statistical inputs to create and tune detailed product forecasts 
• Coordinate with PLM, Sales, and Commercial Operations to produce a monthly forecast (24-month view) and weekly forecast (13-week view) that will be communicated to production 
• Assist in weekly and monthly forecasting meeting that will drive results for manufacturing capacity planning and global S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning) 
• Develop and maintain expertise on forecast system: understand and apply appropriate statistical models and parameters in forecast process 
• Develop and/or improve data management and automation tools for forecasting analytics 
• Measure and report product forecast accuracy to achieve division accuracy goals and self-correct future forecasts 
• Track and report performance of key metrics versus forecasts and business plans, report to senior management as required 
• Maintain key data in forecasting software 
• Generate other impromptu forecasts for budget, business plans, ARs, financial exercises, scenario planning, or as otherwise required by upper management 
• Communicate forecasting processes and best practices within the business
• Assist with special projects and prepare/make presentations as required 

 

Education & Experience 
• BA/BS in Business, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Supply Chain, or Analytics related field 
• 2-5 years in commercial function, ideally in a position requiring data analysis 

 

Required Skills 
• Very strong analytical skills (both quantitative and qualitative) with ability to see the big picture as well as the individual details 
• Methodical and detail oriented – ability and willingness to dig through large amounts of data to find anomalies, outliers, and/or errors 
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize based on established timelines as well as impromptu requests 
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills (oral & written) 

 

Desired Skills 
• Knowledge and understanding of forecasting concepts and applications 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Access and Excel) 
• Intermediate to expert skills in SQL, Visual Basic, R, and/or Python 
• Experience with forecasting software 
• Working knowledge of ERP systems or planning software applications 

 

Soft Skills 
• Take ownership of tasks and projects and manage to completion 
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing priorities 
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills in English
