Job Description
Essential Job Functions
In addition to other roles that might be assigned as needed by the Designated Board Representative or HoS (if any), the kindergarten duties and responsibilities of the Head of Kindergarten will include all of the following:
• Serve as the educational leader of the Kindergarten; develop and maintain a culture and
educational program that bolsters a dynamic learning environment and deepens the
sense of belonging for each member of the learning community.
• Convene and collaborate with the Kindergarten's key leaders to create an engaging, 21st
century learning environment.
• Participate in the strategic planning and leadership of CISK as a member of the SALT.
• Advance the School's commitments to diversity, equity and inclusion, positive education
and Service Learning.
• Develop and nurture positive relationships and communication with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
• Oversee and support all aspects of the kindergarten children’s experience, including academics, the arts, athletics and service learning.
• Support the performance and personal and professional growth of Kindergarten colleagues through on-going mentoring, evaluation and professional development opportunities.
• Collaborate with the School Support Team to foster and maintain the academic success and the social and emotional health of early years children.
• Take early years responsibility for, and work with the Designated Board Representative or HoS (if any) and Chief Financial Officer, as well as with the Department Chairs, in hiring for the division.
• Coordinate efforts with the admission and communication departments to recruit, admit and retain Primary School students.
• Partner with the academic leadership team to develop and implement school-wide pedagogical and curricular initiatives, including the furtherance of culturally-sustaining curriculum for students and colleagues.
• Establish and administer the annual Kindergarten budget.
Ancillary Job Functions
• Perform other related duties as assigned
• Supervise school newsletter, videography, social media, updating established
brochures/lists/reports, and communications database maintenance
• Assist Admissions team with open houses and tours
• Write or edit school communications, including the bi-weekly kindergarten
newsletter, routine communications to inquiries, communications for emergencies

Employment Classification
This is a year-round, full-time position with occasional weekend or evening work. The Head of Kindergarten will report to the Board Representative or HoS, whoever is in charge of the school operations.
• Master’s degree in Education, Education Administration, Educational Psychology, or related field.
• Minimum of five years experience in school management.
• Education administration experience.
• Related teaching credentials.

Preferred Qualifications: IB teaching & management experience.

Required Qualifications – Required qualifications to effectively perform the job at the time of hire. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements and/or substitutions may be requested and require the approval of HR.
