Job Description

The Senior Country Sourcing Manager will be responsible for effectively sourcing various indirect categories and broader projects across the region and into the affiliate, in accordance with established Procurement policies and guidelines. Working closely with Business Partners, other Country Strategic Sourcing Managers and Global Category Managers, implementing and contributing to global category sourcing strategies and supplier management processes. The role will report directly to the European Strategic Sourcing Director & report dotted line to Finance Director for the affiliate.

Context and Responsibilities

Executing sourcing strategies:

• Lead cross functional teams to define and develop regional and local sourcing strategies; based on problem solving sourcing methodologies, incorporating detailed analytics and insights to help drive positive change in current operating processes and services
• Develop and implement a year on year productivity agenda and plan, aligned with finance and business objectives for the affiliate and region projects or categories
• Deliver sourcing & productivity opportunities effecting process, demand and cost
• Manage Request for Proposal and Quotation processes (eRFX), evaluate and negotiate proposals, ensure and validate selection of suppliers
• Work with the Global Category Managers to define affiliate requirements and implement global / regional sourcing strategies
• Develop supplier analysis and market intelligence to support sourcing strategies

Delivering value for customers:

• Supports Global Category Managers with impacting activity
• Understands business objectives and interprets customer needs to identify sourcing opportunities to support them
• Build strong partnerships with colleagues in Finance, Accounting, HR and Function Heads as appropriate
• Support / Manage delivery and validation of savings
• Anticipates and prevents potential problems through root cause analysis
   

Managing supplier relations:

• Maintaining and developing of preferred supplier lists
• Support global / regional category managers to identify and articulate long-term strategic value that can be obtained through supplier collaboration
• Deliver supplier improvement programs and drive continual value from key supplier relationships
• Establish Supplier relationship Management programs for key regional Suppliers and ensure supplier reviews are conducted for key affiliate suppliers

Managing contracts:

• Ensure Amgen’s procurement policies are followed, ensuring that compliance metrics are met or exceeded, supported through preferred supplier contracts:
  • Inform stakeholders on Amgen’s sourcing policies and procedures, providing support and corrective actions where required
  • Approval of purchase requisitions and escalation of any non-compliant requisitions to the appropriate GCM/RCM
  • Lead contracting with new suppliers
  • Ongoing contract management (Renewing and Renegotiating existing and expiring contracts)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree or strategic sourcing experience, with experience in working in international environments
• Has solid understanding of sourcing processes (tendering, supplier negotiations and contracting), across multiple indirect spend categories.
• Competent in Project Management and independently develops practical solutions.
• Ability to provide thought leadership to customers and actively shape customer’s overall strategy while understanding business goals.
• Excellent communication skills (presentation, virtual team development, etc) resulting in relationship building and development
• Proven problem-solving skills
• Able to work with minimal direction, ensuring quality of tasks / service provided by self and other
• Experience using e-procurement tools such as Ariba

• Applies analytical skills to evaluate and interpret complex situations using different information sources in order to draw and present analytic insights
• Highly proficient with MS Office Suite, including Excel
• Fluent business English, affiliate written and oral.
