Duties & Functions of the Human
Resources Director
The HR Director has a broad scope of duties and functions, but most importantly
the HR Director is the connection to the hourly staff and management personnel
to create the Hotel culture of one team, many successes.
More general duties and functions of the HR
Director position would include:
- Maintain all personnel, confidential, I-9/E-verify and injury files according to Company policy, and any State or Federal statutes.
- Coordinate with local agencies and outlets in recruiting hourly personnel. Conduct thorough check-in of all new hires according to Hotel procedures including drug tests, background checks, reference checks, I-9, uniform issues, and designated paperwork.
- Be available to all employees to discuss concerns, corrective actions, employment, benefits, payroll and other Open Door issues pertinent to the employee.
- Provide counsel and advise to department managers/supervisors regarding human resources related issues with their personnel.
- Coordinate all recruiting efforts with the Managers adhering to established recruiting/hiring procedures.
- Conduct first report of injury reporting to worker comp carrier and maintain OSHA log for work related injuries.
- Develop Hotel employee orientation program using local information and polices to accompany Corporate policies and procedures.
- Schedule regular orientation for new hires.
- Ensure the fair and consistent application of Stout Street Hospitality Policies and Procedures in all departments and among all the Hotel employees and advocate the training and application of the Stout Street Hospitality Guest Service Standards among the Hotel staff
Desired Qualifications for the Human
Resources Director
The HR Director’s position will touch all departments and employees in the
Hotel. There are many moving parts to
the position that will require tactical and behavioral adjustments throughout
the day.
To be successful in managing the moving parts the desired
qualifications we want in the HR Director’s position include:
- Human Resources management experience preferably in hospitality operations.
- Strong proven recruiting skills in hospitality.
- Knowledge of all position requirements for a hotel/resort food & beverage, housekeeping, front office, sales, valet, and building services positions.
- Knowledge of EEO/AA policies, wage and hour regulations, laws and requirements involving interviewing and hiring, Title VII, HIPPA, ERISA, COBRA, ADA and FMLA.
- Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to professionally interact with employees, guests, applicants and clients.
- Ability to give directives and ensure the administration and compliance of such directives.
