Fraud Investigative Analyst
MicrosoftRedmondUpdate time: August 12,2019
Job Description

Do you have a passion for analyzing big data in innovative ways to root out online fraud? Do you enjoy the challenge of being part of a dynamic operational team, tackling complex fraud problems and driving solutions from idea to implementation? If so, we may have the right job for you.

Microsoft is seeking to hire an experienced fraud investigative analyst to join its Fraud Investigations team, which sits within Microsoft C+E Business Operations. This team is growing, and its scope is expanding to include ownership of fraud detection, investigation, intelligence gathering, disruption, prevention, and mitigation strategies on behalf of numerous Microsoft businesses that provide online products and services to a global customer base. These businesses include internationally known brands such as Bing Ads, Azure, Office 365, Windows Store, Xbox Live, Microsoft Store, and many others.

The Fraud Investigative Analyst role is part data analyst, part investigator, part strategist, part program manager, part negotiator, part firefighter. Creativity, passion and tenacity are necessary traits. Each day the team is presented with situations that require unique and well considered responses in order to foil relentless fraud attacks. We are the front line of defense for Microsoft in the large and growing ecommerce space. Because of this, we are looking for an ecommerce fraud expert with a strong data analytics background to join our team.

You’ll serve as the team’s subject matter expertise on fraud detection, prevention and mitigation for the various offerings of at least one online business, while simultaneously maintaining a working knowledge of several other businesses in order to support team efforts as needed. You’ll collaborate closely with various teams across the company to drive strategies involving both real time and post-real time risk decisioning, manual review strategy, and other collaborative efforts with the various business groups. You’ll also be accountable for helping the team meet key performance indicators for their focus businesses.

The fraud investigative analyst must have the ability to obtain, parse and synthesize large data sets and employ analytic techniques to devise new data-driven risk strategies for real time and post-real time decisioning. Most data used by the Investigations team is queried using scripting languages comparable to T-SQL and requires query writing ability and experience working with relational data. Beyond that, the investigative analyst is expected to discover and generate actionable information with minimal direction.

This is not a role for dashboard-generating automatons or flighty data academics. The fraud investigative analyst will square off against sophisticated and persistent cybercriminals, mindbogglingly massive data sets, and a fast-paced and dynamic operational team environment where the path to results is often ambiguous and always challenging. For the tenacious, inventive, and hard-working analyst; dueling in this arena can be loads of fun.

Come join our team and help make Microsoft the safest place for people and companies all over the globe to buy and sell online!
