Lean Coach – Operations Regulatory

Location: UK (Macclesfield), Sweden (Södertälje)

Operations Regulatory sits within our Global Quality organisation and has responsibility for leading CMC Regulatory post approval activities across our synthetic molecule portfolio.

We are looking for a Lean Coach to join our Leadership Team and take ownership for driving the Lean programme within our organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive lean within a transactional and knowledge work setting.

You will demonstrate significant experience of the application of Lean principles, processes, tools, behaviours & leadership across a range of business initiatives.

You will be confident to coach and train in all aspects of Lean.

Key Accountabilities:

Take overall responsibility for developing and leading the execution of the lean strategy and improvement plans.

Work with our organisation to ensure that lean practises are embedded effectively and undertake Lean Maturity Reviews and process confirmation/layered audits to ensure standards are met.

We will look for you to influence, review and assist in the preparation of our functional Lean transformation-maps and tactical implementation plans. Ensure that our Lean implementation plans, and business processes align with our global Lean strategies and adhere to the standard Lean implementation processes.

Sponsor and build education & training to develop and maintain the necessary capabilities.

Take an active role in the deployed network of site and functional Lean leads, working with our Head of Lean (Quality) to standardise, develop & improve processes that support the AstraZeneca Supply System (AZSS). Ensure strategic alignment and accurate and consistent deployment across the entire Quality organisation.

Essential Requirements:

  • Significant experience as a Lean professional within a company/companies with cutting edge Lean practices
  • Strong track record of developing, adapting and implementing Lean strategies and programmes aligned with the supply and commercial needs and priorities of the business
  • Strong background in organizational change gained in a global business environment
  • Strong influencing skills gained in a matrixed global organisation with a proven track record to lead and mentor
  • In depth knowledge of Lean methodologies with practical application in transactional & knowledge work non-factory-based settings like global processes and office environment work
  • Educated to undergraduate degree level in a Manufacturing, Engineering or related technical/business subject area – equivalent experience will be considered

Desirable Requirements:

  • Lean and or Six Sigma Black Belt training and certification from an accredited external Quality program
  • Broad understanding of cGMP Quality processes
  • Application of Lean in compliance focused business units (pharmaceutical, nuclear, aerospace, military, hospitals)
