In this vital role you will report to the GCO Instructional Design Manager, GLS at Amgen’s Capability Center in Tampa, Florida, with responsibilities to support Global Learning & Performance (GL&P) Learning Professionals in all Commercial regions including US, Europe, Intercontinental, and JAPAC.

The Annotation Specialist is responsible for checking the quality of all materials that require additional review by the material approval and compliance (MAC) team.

An Annotation Specialist will need to be experienced in reviewing both digital (interactive) and print pieces, and marking up materials electronically using Adobe Acrobat DC. They will also be responsible for assembling reference binders that are required during submission of projects to the MAC team.

As a member of the GLS, the Annotation Specialist will also assume the responsibilities of an instructional designer when not performing their annotation duties. They will also be responsible for designing and developing learning solutions that are aligned with the region’s strategies and with business needs. They will also partner closely with commercial learning professionals and marketers to understand performance challenges and desired work outputs. Additionally, they will perform quality control checks based on a set internal criterion.

They own the end-to-end instructional design responsibilities for training projects (e.g., Training needs analysis, design documentation, writing and editing of creative deliverables, adept use of tools and templates, and quality control of final deliverables). They can also produce deliverables such as content outlines, design documents, style guides/templates, storyboards, infographics, workshop materials, performance support tools, and eLearning modules.

As an Annotation Specialist, they will collaborate across the GL&P community and the Capability Center to ensure that GLS is adding value and meeting business needs. Specifically, they will ensure learning content is produced effectively, efficiently, and in line with the priorities identified by functional governance and the MAC team.

  • Provides compliance tracking and reporting
  • Manages reference binders associated with projects marked for MAC review
  • Performs content review of assigned projects and projects marked for MAC review
  • Performs line-editing and proofreading, checking for formatting consistency, grammatical accuracy, and spelling errors
  • Ensures all final copy and design match approved job Confirms pages are logically arranged and exist in their entirety
  • Assesses design elements (eg, borders aren’t blurred, alignment isn’t off)
  • Ensures page numbers and headings are correct and casing style of heads and subheads is consistent throughout
  • Verifies photos and illustrations are correctly captioned
  • Consults with functional learning professionals and marketing partners to ensure the most appropriate learning solutions are proposed
  • Provides end-to-end instructional design support on learning projects
  • Employs instructional design best practices in the execution of project deliverables, including design documents, content outlines, workshop materials, performance support tools, and eLearning modules
  • Works - as needed - with vendors, shared service providers, and contract workers to develop and deliver training deliverables
  • Attends key commercial meetings (eg. National or Regional US Sales Meetings- S1 & S2, Key Marketing Meetings, Key Product Launch Meetings) to ensure quality, delivery when required, and iterations of key learning initiatives and workshops
  • Some travel – approximately 30%

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

Or

Associate’s degree & 4 years of Learning & Performance or Pharma/Biopharma Sales/Marketing experience

Or

High school diploma / GED & 6 years of Learning & Performance or Pharma/Biopharma Sales/Marketing experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years proofreading and copy editing; pharmaceutical industry and agency experience highly desirable
  • 3+ years of experience in Sales and/or Marketing in the pharma or biopharma industry
  • 3+ years of experience developing eLearning, ILT, OJT, performance support, and other learning solutions
  • Prior experience with learning technology solutions and eLearning design software
  • Collaborative work style with ability to solicit input, influence, and support decision making
  • Project management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
