As a Global Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer at Micron Technology, you will influence the continued development of Micron’s Risk-Based Process Safety (RBPS) system. Micron’s RBPS system foundation is based upon four main incident prevention pillars. This is a proven and well-established process safety management system developed by the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS). The four pillars are: Commit to Process Safety, Understand Hazards and Risk, Manage Risk, and Learn from Experience. A successfully built and implemented RBPS system will drive the prevention of, preparedness for, mitigation of, response to, and restoration from catastrophic releases of chemicals or energy at Micron Facilities. This position will report directly to the Global PSM Director.

You will:
- Help PSM program manager and team develop a robust process safety management system
- Help PSM team define scope, goals and enhanced business objectives in collaboration with sponsors and partners
- Help develop and monitor metrics/KPI's to influence program and element outcomes. Leverage a blend of leading and lagging indicators
- Leverage internal and external (industry) benchmarking
- Provide Process Safety leadership, direction, and education of Micron’s RBPS program
- Maintain program support through continuous interaction with senior leaders
- Perform complete RBPS compliance audits
- Identify potential crises and develop and execute resolution plans
- Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project objectives
- Facilitate RBPS elements to sustaining mode
- Work with project teams as a technical resource
- Work with incident/event teams as a technical resource
- Work with the Fabs, Facilities, Project Management Office (PMO), and Manufacturing Central Team to define, develop, and maintain processes and support systems that help drive RBPS success
- Identify and characterize process hazards in the development of new and legacy processes, parts, and technologies
- Review chemical and tool safety for new or changed processes, chemicals, or equipment
- Conduct or participate in thorough process hazard analyses (i.e. HAZOP or other hazard analyses) to establish potential hazard impact to the global network
- Work with global network in the development of engineering solutions and strategies for controlling physical and health hazards at all points of a new or legacy process, chemistry, or system (i.e. manufacturing process to abatement).
- Review of process chemistry, including reactivity, byproduct formation, and other material characteristics (i.e. flammability, corrosiveness, etc.)
You will have:
- You will move projects effectively through the project lifecycle
- Extensive experience with hazard assessment, data analysis root cause investigation
- Strong technical expertise in the areas of Chemical Process Safety
- You will utilize advanced written and oral communication skills to reduce risk to the business and resolve difficult issues
- Adaptability to a rapidly changing environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate facilitation skills including the ability to influence others
- Confirmed experience in Risk Based Process Safety (RBPS) Management including Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Higher, or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in process engineering / technology design
- Minimum 1 year of experience implementing Process Safety
- Semiconductor Manufacturing plant knowledge
- Experience in Workfront and Microsoft Office
Workplace:
Can travel~ one week per/month
