To support its digital strategy, Eaton is looking for an experienced and dynamic Engineering manager to expand the Gateway Software Platform used in UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and PDU (Power Distribution Unit) to EV Chargers and Energy Storage Systems. The Gateway Platform Engineering Manager owns the technology strategies and development of one common embedded Linux platform that is capable to handle multiple protocols and types of devices while exposing a unified data model to software applications. This position reports to ET&D Engineering Director and manages multiple teams mainly of embedded software developers but also of system architects, scrum masters and hardware designers. Your responsibilities: Lead the development of embedded software for connectivity gateways Define the connectivity roadmap with the product managers Establish, maintain and improve relationships with other engineering teams, including validation and innovation, and with cross-functional departments, including marketing and operations, within the division and at the corporate company level Build and monitor the engineering budget and resources allocation on targets while delivering the product roadmap Manage the performance and development of team members and attract talents Develop and maintain an environment that promotes safety, diversity and inclusion, innovation, and high productivity Facilitate open and honest communication with team members Provide key metrics to monitor the engineering activities and performance on a regular basis Improve development processes for high quality products Are you? Qualifications Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent 10+ years of engineering experience leading teams in a global structure, with a strong background in Linux applications involving networks and protocols Strong experience in SDLC Software Development Life Cycle (Linux environment) Experience in unit-testing, continuous integration and version control (Git) Experience in software quality tools and standards Experience in working into an Agile environment (Scrum) Experience in issue tracking systems (JIRA) Experience in M2M communication standards and platforms (TCP/IP, RestAPI, SNMP, MQTT, Modbus) Knowledge of EV-Charging and SmartGrid protocols (OCPP, OpenADR) Knowledge of cybersecurity and data encryption Knowledge of hardware electronics Strong experience in people management, direct and functional, including 3rd party contractors Ability to develop customer and stakeholder relationships quickly Ability to manage budget and allocate resources Ability to clearly articulate plans and influence others Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills for problem solving with focus on simple solutions, facilitating decision making and conflict resolution Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills (for technical and non-technical audience) Full professional proficiency in English Leadership and strong interpersonal skills High accountability and learning skills Experience of working in a global environment Then we want to hear about you!
