Job Description
Position Summary
The General Ledger Manager is responsible for the management of the General Ledger (GL) team within SEA Shared Service Accounting.
Principal Responsibilities
- Establishes financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information, and managing accounting staff.
- Achieves accounting operational objectives by contributing accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and key performance indicators (KPI); resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; and implementing change.
- Meets accounting financial objectives by analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
- Maintains accounting controls by reviewing accounting policies and procedures to propose best practices to standardize and enhance controls.
- Supports business and commercial operations by researching and interpreting accounting policies and applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
- Accomplishes accounting human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Leads projects to:
- tap on automation (e.g. RPA, Macros and other tools) to reduce manual inputs and intervention for GL processes
- drive process improvements and standardization, with a view to improve the team’s productivity and accounting controls
- Other GL accounting tasks include but are not limited to:
- reviewing monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations
- ensuring that transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with IFRS, US GAAP and corporate accounting policies
- reviewing the monthly Dashboard reports ad analysis
- assisting with various audits
- other ad-hoc duties as required and/or assigned
Requirements
- Candidates should hold an Accounting qualification (Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting) and have at least 5 years of experience in General Ledger functions, of which 3 years have to be in a managerial capacity
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially in MS Word and Excel, and in ERP systems (i.e. SAP)
- Meticulous, and able to work independently
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Be a good team player and leader, and most importantly willing to learn
- Ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve desired results
- Collaborative and positive attitude with desire to work in a demanding, fast paced, and dynamic work environment
