THE THIRD FLOOR (TTF) is the world’s leading Visualization Studio, known for designing many of Hollywood’s most successful feature films, television series, video game cinematics, virtual reality experiences and theme park attractions. After more than 15 years of periodic, international collaboration in China, TTF plans to establish it first permanent Studio Base in Beijing this year.
The primary goal is to support the most ambitious Directors, Producers and Brands in China with all the latest tools and workflows developed to create ground-breaking, global content such as Avatar, Gravity, Avengers: End Game and Game of Thrones. TTF is actively seeking the best and brightest employees to help launch operations and strategically expand our PRC team.
Selected employees will be invited to our headquarters in Los Angeles for up to 10 weeks of training. Our LA leaders and support teams will be available to mentor and ensure a smooth and successful deployment in Beijing. THE THIRD FLOOR Visualization Studio is offering a unique opportunity to help launch and lead our first permanent studio in Beijing, working closely with highly successful colleagues and prestigious filmmakers and innovators.
TTF’s Founders are seeking an enthusiastic, confident and highly strategic leader who has an impeccable reputation and a wealth of experience doing business in the PRC, and can provide expert operational and resourcing support for our ever expanding creative workforce. The General Manager position is the backbone of all daily business activity. GM’s work to ensure that all supporting departments run smoothly and that the staff is properly supported to provide the best value and overall experience for our partners and customers.

Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a healthy internal culture that will retain key employees and encourages perpetual professional development.
- Responsible for carrying out strategic market research and analysis within China to help inform the Board and steer the company.
- Execute the expansion of TTF in Beijing by building a fast growing, core team of individuals.
- Establish processes, policies, protocols, and an overall scalable operations model and org structure.
- Work with TTF’s Producers, Business Development Teams, and TTF’s CEO to grow business within the Chinese market by developing enduring relationships with current and new clients.
- Coordinate with domestic and foreign partners to promote, negotiate, staff and deliver ambitious projects.
- Attend local industry events to represent TTF and expand our prestigious brand by promoting our team members and their accomplishments.
- Form strategic plans in conjunction with TTF’s CEO and the TTF China Board to grow domestic business, strengthen and expand the Studio’s core capabilities, and target prospects for revenue generation.
- Support global business development as a high-level client manager and relationship liaison in China for the benefit of TTF’s domestic and international customers.
- Oversee all Beijing Office finances – annual budgets, P&L reports, salary reviews, revenue projections and forecasting.
- Direct responsibility for company profitability, reporting key results to the Board of Directors and LA-based Executive Team.
- Promote, plan and support TTF China’s future expansions within Beijing and in other cities and provinces throughout the PRC.
- Ability to work hard, drive performance, and still have fun in the process!
Essential Skills:
- A well-connected and respected leader/manager with a high-level of experience within one or more creative industry sectors; (specific Previsualization, VFX, Film Studio, Games or Media Industry experience is a plus).
- Experience navigating overseas communication and collaboration.
- University Educated with a 4-year Bachelor’s Degree or higher; (an MBA and Legal experience is a plus).
- Deep knowledge of the Chinese film, television and cultural industries, including government relations in these sectors; (theme park, games and VR and other technology development experience is a plus).
- Expert team management skills, with a demonstrated ability to oversee and coordinate between multiple departments, such as Business Development, Production, Finance, Facilities, Human Resources, IT, and Software Research & Development.
- Highly organized, self-starter with the ability to adapt strategies rapidly and thoughtfully.
- Natural ability to quickly establish rapport and credibility in internal and external meetings and to build strong working relationships based on honesty and mutual respect.
- High level of understanding regarding project/resource management and scheduling dynamics.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and experience navigating and de-escalating conflicts and potential disagreements within the workplace.
- Collaborative and solutions-orientated, always working to achieve positive outcomes.
Requirements:
Chinese national, fluent in Mandarin and English, both verbally and written.
