A significant and senior opportunity has become available at Siemens Digital Industries (DI). We are recruiting for the role of General Manager – Motion Control (MC), with full responsibility for our Business Unit activities across the UK and Ireland. This is a PL4 position. The role will be the Head of SOM CODE RC-GB DI MC This role will report to the Managing Director of Digital Industries representing the comprehensive drive train portfolio. The successful candidate will need to steer a profitable sales approach for the MC portfolio in line with the Digital Industries strategy; to demonstrate technology leadership whilst delivering against operational objectives and proactively lead, develop and coach the team to meet defined aspirations whilst achieving high levels of customer satisfaction. We are looking for an experienced and inspirational leader to join and contribute to a well-established and experienced DI general management team. You will have overall responsibility for a broad, multi-site organisation and a multi-million Pound profit and loss. The role holder will lead the operational aspects of this growing function and develop local growth strategies in close co-operation with the UK and Ireland regional leadership team and headquarters. The role includes collaboration with and motivation of business stakeholders, including partners and the developing industrial digitalisation eco-system. This is a high-profile role with the opportunity to influence the future of the industrial drive train sector through thought leadership as well as senior internal stakeholders both locally and in our headquarters. What part will you play? • Leading, developing and implementing the MC Vision and Sales Growth strategies across the GMC (General Motion Control) / LVM (Low Voltage Motors) and MTS (Machine Tool Systems) businesses from the outset, working with the local and global MC team. • Multi million Pound P&L responsibility across the UK & Ireland with ambitious growth plans. • Building excellent teams through leadership, experience and coaching to make the most of the diversity and strengths within those teams for performance delivery. • Operational Health & Safety responsibility for MC teams on Siemens premises encompassing the mental wellbeing needs of the wider team (Leeds / Handforth Dean / Manchester) • Engagement with major customers, partners, stakeholders and external bodies. • Promoting drive train ‘technology with purpose’ through thought leadership externally, within MC and with key customer groups. • General cost control, productivity and profitability operating within a framework of control demonstrating agility and entrepreneurialism as appropriate. Use your skills to move the world forward! • Outstanding leader of people who can demonstrate operational capability and industry / domain expertise. • Broad understanding of the industrial drive train market, where the portfolio fits, and the value add to the Customer. • An electrical or electromechanical background with related domain expertise would be highly advantageous • Applied knowledge of our core technology application areas would be highly advantageous. • Proven experience of leading / coaching multi-disciplined teams. • Demonstrable ability to communicate clearly, to simplify and summarise complexity, to take people with you and host challenging collaborative conversations with key stakeholders. • Advanced problem-solving orientation.
