YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, GBS Fingerprinting Lead are to: 

• Lead team of research associates and contractors responsible for delivering genotyping data to support product discovery and advancement across Global Breeding and Vegetable pipelines;
• Develop and implement strategy for scaling and optimizing workflows (molecular biology, automation and IT components) to support diverse partner needs;
• Use data analytics to enable effective troubleshooting and optimization of production workflows and automation;
• Prioritize and manage projects in alignment with business needs and partner priorities to ensure objectives and deliverables are achieved in a timely manner and in accordance to key performance indicators;
• Engage strategically with partners to identify new opportunities for the labs, provide input on lab capabilities/resources and understand the business needs to drive the necessary changes;
• Develop and maintain a highly engaged quality culture while adhering to ISO standards and staying compliant with stewardship requirements;
• Work with partners to create and maintain submission forecasts and ensure appropriate capacity to meet partner needs;
• Provide experimental guidance and mentorship to empower the team to drive for continuous improvement and make the necessary changes to optimize processes.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science with at least 10 years of relevant experience or Master of Science with at least eight years relevant experience or Ph.D. with at least four years of relevant experience;
• Educational preparation or applied experience in Genomics, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Molecular Breeding or related field;
• Background in high throughput lab automation, molecular biology, DNA extraction methods, genomics, genetics, or related field;
• At least three years of experience leading and/or managing teams;
• Strong proficiency in experimental design;
• Strong communication, networking, and collaboration skills;
• Experience with quality management, LEAN, TPM, OEE principles;
• Experience with laboratory automation and IT infrastructure.
