Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The manager of Continuous improvement & Industry 4.0 will lead deployment of Continuous Improvement / Industry 4.0 vision and strategy for Eaton’s Valves Aguascalientes manufacturing site. This includes Lean Six Sigma (ELSS) and Industry 4.0 process deployment, training, and mentoring at the plant level. This role is a key member of the plant staff and ensures a plant culture of Continuous Improvement and Lean that is then leveraged to drive change. Job duties support the creation and implementation of Lean, Six Sigma and Industry 4.0 strategies, by driving Continuous Improvement Framework which will lead to improvements in factory margins, product delivery performance, employee safety and reductions in product/process variation. Also helps to identify and develop CI / Industry 4.0 talent at site, but also providing inputs to regional team. Works together with regional teams on achieving World Class and Model Plant performance level, in alignment with the VGNA Manufacturing Strategy Roadmap. Responsible to build a strong bench strength either through organizational structure talent pipeline and Lean certification methodology, improving CI culture awareness and organizational capability. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Works through the leadership team to lead the development and implementation of the site Lean, Six Sigma strategy and Industry 4.0, actions, training and cross-functional activities including Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs), but not limited to Kaizen level. (TVSM, BPI’s, Bootcamps, blitz) Conducts Eaton Lean System (ELSS) assessments and identify performance gaps. Works through the leadership team to prioritize improvement activities and close gaps. Development / execution of strategic plans for implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives in the facility based upon Functional and Operations assessments (OpA).cultural and functional approach. Provides Lean, Six Sigma and Industry 4.0 support across the organization to drive short-term and long-term business improvements. Utilizes Lean, Six Sigma and Industry 4.0 tools/solutions to eliminate waste driving customer satisfaction, cost reduction, and improved working capital performance. Leads the continuous improvement / industry 4.0 team. Assists in improvement activities including training, mentoring, facilitating Kaizen events, Six Sigma prjs., tool deployment, benchmarking, etc. Provides Lean, Six Sigma and Industry 4.0 mentoring to support of functional talent development and succession planning Works with Regional/Divisional CI & Industry 4.0 Manager to ensure alignment of plant CI / i4.0 activities to broader functional strategy and vision Utilize strong project management skills to execute projects and/or lead projects teams as needed. Organize and lead team meetings for effective task completion per the implementation work plan and budgets. Assure environmental, health and safety requirements are met when of project conclusion. Interface with internal organization by developing procedures and systems in alignment with EATON Business System, to maximize output, optimize headcount and reduce any other type of waste as scrap, to maintain or improve “High Five” performance in alignment with cost reduction strategy. Qualifications SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a technical area or equivalent 5+ years of related experience as manager or supervisor Bi-lingual (Spanish and English) Excellent communication and strong analytical skills Proven capability to lead change in a team environment. Ability to manage multiple projects/activities Experienced Lean and 6 Sigma trainer and mentor Proficient in Power Point, Excel, Visio, Minitab (or any Statistical software) Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree – MBA, Engineering, Management, etc. Formal training/certification in Lean tools (5S, Standard work, Value Stream Mapping, Setup Reduction, Total Productive Maintenance, Lean Material Flow, and 6 Sigma with min 5 years of related experience. Experience in implementing Lean in Low volume High mix type product environment Operations experience minimum 5 years Project management experience Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment technology, and equipment capability. Manufacturing Process Knowledge including forging, machining, grinding, heat treat, plating, welding, inspection equipment Position Criteria: Financial acumen and experience with business case development Effective communicator within environments ranging from shop-floor kaizen teams to operations leadership, and Eaton senior leadership Ability to teach and coach teams effectively Strong interpersonal and planning skills with proven ability to lead change through both direct and indirect (influencing) abilities Support Eaton’s vision using strategic planning, SMART goals and profit planning Promote a CI strategy that sustains a continuous improvement culture, ensuring a constant safety focus Drive CIF (Continuous Improvement Framework) by training, coaching, and leading by example Expertise with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Eaton Business Excellence Criteria, Project Management, Organizational change management, Quality Management System standards (i.e. ISO/TS 16949:2002, etc.) Interpersonal communication skills and leadership development ability Functional Competencies: Foundation Analytical / Statistical Tools & Methods Intermediate ELSS Leadership Advance Lean Tools Manufacturing and Business Process ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Travel approximately 30% to attend other sites events / benchmarking Working knowledge of business management systems (MRP, order management) Maintain and demonstrate a good understanding of the Eaton Values and Philosophies, and Eaton Business System Master’s degree in engineering, industrial management, quality, or business from an accredited institution. #LI-CR1 Eaton is an intelligent power management company dedicated to improving the quality of life and protecting the environment for people everywhere.
