Job Description
Position Description:
The General (Indirect) Procurement organization is responsible for sourcing,
purchasing, and managing spend for all non-production goods or services used
internally by Lenovo. It includes 9 major operating expense categories:
Marketing Communications, IT Services, Real Estate, Travel, Workforce,
Business Services, Site Services, HR Services, and R&D Services. Position is
responsible for all Procurement activities related to source selection,
contract/supplier management, cost analysis/negotiation for goods and services
on specific spend categories for North America.
The GCM requires specific strengths in project management, business
case/financial analysis. Position interfaces with internal stakeholders and
external suppliers. Position is responsible for leading/interfacing with
cross-functional teams in sourcing decisions and in managing ongoing supplier
operational performance, to achieve success of business. He/she should have
experience in indirect procurement, the desire to engage Lenovo's internal
stakeholders to provide sourcing strategies and drive procurement initiatives
and be the commercial lead for spend and supplier management.
Essential Functions:
Facilitate interactive communication between Lenovo organizations & supply
partners.
Work with business unit/budget owner (our internal Lenovo stakeholders) on
appropriate spending strategy, including industry best practices,
category/market trend analysis, and supplier capabilities.
Negotiate and execute contracts with selected Suppliers to help ensure both
deliverables and risk avoidance.
Manage and optimize Lenovo's Spend with external suppliers, generating
Procurement Value-Add (Savings and Cost-Avoidance) for Lenovo.
Manage supplier performance via stakeholder feedback and performance-based
metrics
Help cross functional teams to solve supplier issues related to delivery,
supply, quality, and service.
Lead RFQ's/RFI to drive competitive sourcing activities and appropriately
select supplier sources.
Skill Requirements:
Analytics - Perform competitive bid analysis, cost analysis, fair-value
analysis, and scenario modeling;
Problem-solving - Ability to understand objectives, identify obstacles,
initiative root cause analysis, mitigate risk, and develop and implement
recommendations for alternative solutions;
Negotiation - Ability to conduct fact-based negotiations with Suppliers at
senior levels;
Team - Ability to communicate, collaborate, and drive work successfully
within a matrix team environment;
Independence - Ability to complete tasks and initiatives with minimal amount
of supervision;
Fact-seeking - Propensity to perform appropriate research on goods/services
being purchased in order to drive strategy and benefit negotiations;
Project Management - Ability to prioritize activities and multi-task to
drive maximum benefit.
Adaptability - Flexibility in ambiguous direction from internal
stakeholders; resourceful and versatile responding to change.
Communication - Strong English Oral and Written Communication Skills.
#### Position Requirements:
\- Bachelors degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Materials
Engineering, Production/Ops Management, Project Management, Supply Chain
Management/Logistics or other related focus
\- 5+ years strategic sourcing experience
\- Indirect procurement experience
\- Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook
\- SAP Ariba sourcing
Preferred Qualifications:
\- MNC/IT Industry experience is preferred.
