Job Description
The Director, Continuous Improvement (CI), Industry 4.0 (i4.0) & Digitalization will develop and deploy strategies for all three pillars above in all manufacturing locations globally and all functions within the Vehicle Group. From CI, primary focus is the adoption of all relevant EBS tools – CIF, ELSS, OPA, as well strong focus on back-to-basics Lean Manufacturing concepts to optimize manufacturing operational performance and excellence. From i4.0, primary focus is developing a strategic roadmap and lead organization through deployment in a structured, pragmatic, and integrated approach. From Digitalization, primary focus is driving data driven decisions and establish, implementing and sustain a governance model on how to leverage data to driven efficiency. Responsibility also includes ensuring Operations pipeline of talented CI, Industry 4.0, and Digitalization across the organization. Drive the CI / i4.0 / Digitalization function within the Vehicle Group: Responsible for developing and execution of CI / i4.0 / Digitalization vision / strategy and plans across the Group in alignment with EBS Pull at Group, Regional and Plant level. Through hands on approach, drive manufacturing sites on back-to-basics Lean tools to create a solid CI foundation, deploying also Six Sigma, CIF and Manufacturing Excellence tools and processes in order to drive cost out goals, achieve performance excellence, improve customer satisfaction as measured through Profit Plan and Strategic Plan goals. Works together with both regional and site CI / i4.0 Leaders to develop regional capabilities in the areas of Lean, Six Sigma, Industry 4.0 aiming to achieve and sustain higher levels of Manufacturing Excellence. Responsible to identify and develop CI / i4.0 / Digitalization talent at both group, regional and site levels. Creates functional OCA for the organization and contributes to the development of plant manager pipeline Works together with both regional and site CI / i4.0 leaders to drive VG sites on achieving World Class Metrics and Model Plant status. Essential Functions: Responsible for developing and execution of CI / i4.0 / Digitalization vision / strategy and plans across the Group in alignment with EBS Pull at Group, Regional and Plant level. Embraces Eaton Lean Six Sigma (ELSS) tools, including back-to-basics processes and drives the use in a disciplined and rigorous way to achieve and sustain stretch performance goals while helping to build organizational capability for both regional and site level CI / i4.0 resources. Responsible to develop and implement through the organization strategic roadmap for Industry 4.0 and Digitalization. Responsible to drive organization towards a data driven decision making process aiming for continuous and sustainable year-over-year performance improvement. Responsible to partner with SCM organization and drive together Indirect Material cost reductions bring additional competitiveness to the business Responsible to co-develop together with CI / i4.0 regional and site leaders the key needle mover projects utilizing EBS Pull and support the execution of key breakthrough continuous improvement & Industry 4.0 projects within the specified area of responsibility, including the achievement of stretch performance goals, while also building organizational capability of business, regional and site resources. Coordinate and support the development of regional and site CI resources against the ELSS functional competencies, also achieving LTE / LTL certification on ELSS tools to drive a strong operational excellence culture. Responsible to identify and develop CI / i4.0 / Digitalization talent at both group, regional and site levels. Creates functional OCA for the organization and contributes to the development of a strong plant manager pipeline. Supports OpA (Operations Assessment) annual assessments by helping to identify together with regional and site CI Manages the appropriate Opportunities for Advancement, establish improvement action plans, and assure they are implemented. Responsible for driving the use of structured problem solving, including PDCA cycle application, Six Sigma and RedX tools to build organizational capability, shape the culture and get results. Supports sites on achieving World Class and Model Plant level, as well on executing STP, NPD and NPI projects across Vehicle Group as appropriate. Qualifications Minimum Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution Minimum of 15 years of experience in industrial operations environment Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or other relevant CI methodology Knowledge on Industry 4.0 technologies and proved deployment Candidate must reside within 50 miles of an international airport and must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship Effective communicator within environments ranging from shop-floor kaizen teams to operations leadership stakeholder groups, to business group staff, and Eaton senior leadership Strong interpersonal and planning skills with proven ability to lead change through both direct and indirect (influencing) abilities Experience in strategic and annual planning (i.e. EBS PULL) Experience on working globally with multiple cultures Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future Preferred Qualifications: MBA or other advanced degree, Black Belt Certification from an accredited institution (desired) Eaton considers qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with local laws.
