Job Description
Position Description: We are seeking an experienced Contract Manager to support Lenovo’s worldwide “Device as a Service” (“DaaS”) sales function to close multi-million dollar “As A Service” contracts with global clients headquartered in the EMEA region. We expect you to be pro-active, pragmatic and commercially astute individual with extensive experience in sell-side contract management. The target is to maximise value capture whilst minimizing value leakage and protecting the company via management of commercial, legal and regulatory risk. Although primarily focused on pre-sales contract support, the role will encompass full E2E contract lifecycle management Your responsibilities will be: • Lead, support and/or manage all aspects of the contract including negotiations with DaaS clients ranging from simple single country subscription based transactions to highly complex, multi-national managed services “Device As A Service” deals • Have the confidence, gravitas and seniority to engage in face to face negotiation of multi-million dollar DaaS deals with all of the client’s stakeholders including programme managers, general counsel and other senior stakeholders including at board level. • Support the DaaS Sales teams in client specific negotiations via provision of timely commercial and contract advice across a diverse range of contract types including a) Master Services Agreements b) Statements of Work c) Non-Disclosure Agreements d) Partner/Teaming Agreements e) Master Lease Agreements f) Inter-company Agreements • Liaise with Lenovo local / geo based legal counsel to ensure compliance with local law and regulation and to ensure aligned approach to legal issues • Lead, support and/or manage contract negotiations with systems integrators e.g. Accenture, PwC • Support contract negotiations with external partners e.g. equipment leasing partners, financial services companies and services suppliers where necessary including any back to back provisions required • Provide strategic direction / input to contract strategy, adoption of best practice, contract templates and approach to contract automation e.g electronic signature • Be comfortable with advising internal stakeholders including at board level and building cross functional relationships across departments e.g. sales, service, LFS, legal and worldwide geos/subsidiaries. • Liaise with product management team to ensure relevant contractual terms and conditions are developed for each new product during the New Product Development process • Upskill wider DaaS team through provision of in-house training and/or materials on key contractual topics e.g. data protection, competition law, anti-bribery etc • Maintain and manage global contract repository via use of CLM tools, Sharepoint etc • Ensure compliance relevant company policies and procedures including legal governance / Delegation of Authority levels #### Position Requirements: • At least 6-8 years of experience in negotiating complex multi-country managed services contracts in a large multi-national business within the IT or Telecommunications sectors • Commercial management experience with solid understanding of the key drivers of profitability • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills with a solid knowledge of legal concepts • Experience in IT Hardware / Equipment leasing would be considered an advantage • Ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous and ever changing environment • Experience of subscription based “as a service” commercial models • Comfortable negotiating directly with clients and/or third parties • Strong team player who builds strong working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders • Solid project management experience • Commercial awareness with ability to understand the sales team’s perspective and balance contractual and legal risk • High degree of professional ethics, integrity and gravitas • First class interpersonal and communication skills • Excellent judgement and analytical skills • Ability to remain calm under pressure • Understanding of regional cultural norms and behaviours • Experience working with both common law and civil law systems e.g. UK, Germany • Fluent in written and spoken English.
