Job Description: Global EHS Sr Safety Engineer IIF

As the Global EHS Safety Program Manager, you will be part of a team tasked with the successful development and implementation of key strategic Incident and Injury Free (IIF) initiatives and practices targeted at improving Micron’s safety culture. The successful candidate will provide leadership, direction, technical guidance, education, and mentoring to the company’s management and site safety teams related to IIF culture. The Global EHS Sr. Safety Engineer will provide technical guidance/advice to the site EHS staffs, and senior management on best practices, safety and regulatory development matters related to the semiconductor industry.

Primary Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and education of key strategic initiatives targeted at improving safety culture and compliance
  • Develop, implement, and monitor company IIF programs and policies
  • Lead implementation of safety industry best practice
  • Implement management system criteria programs and business processes across the Micron network
  • Perform leadership commitment workshops and support implementation and follow-up actions to ensure common cultural elements are implemented across Micron’s network
  • Respond to emergencies and investigate incidents and recommends corrective action
  • Resolve complex matters, including use of required data and management systems
  • Analyze data in compliance with current regulations, standards/policies and make appropriate recommendations to prevent new or recurring incidents
  • Assure accuracy of reports and permits for compliance with country, state, and local regulations
  • May provide leadership to less experienced engineers and to technicians
  • May act as lead person or technical advisor on projects
  • Promote and implement Micron’s EHS Policy and IIF Culture
  • Accept other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in developing and deploying IIF cultural elements at a site or corporate level
  • Extensive experience with hazard assessment, data analysis root cause investigation
  • Strong technical expertise in safety program management and EHS Management Systems, in multi-national corporations
  • Demonstrated ability to comfortably work across organizational boundaries and geographies
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional organizations to understand needs and translate them into actionable plans, deliverables, and resource requirements
  • Ability to be guided by business objectives and determine best methods for delivering results
  • Demonstrated proficiency in independently completing complex tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven facilitation skills including the ability to influence others
  • Fluent computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel

    Education Required:
    Minimum of a B.S. degree in Occupational Health Safety, Industrial Hygiene or another relevant degree

    Experience Required:
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience including demonstrated experience influencing an IIF culture
  • Semiconductor experience
  • The ability to read and develop a solid understanding and interpretation of regulations is required
  • Ability to develop global programs and deploy to a multi-cultural audience
  • Strong interpersonal communication
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in technical writing
  • Strong team player skills
  • Strong language skill in Chinese and English

Work location: Micron Taichung site or Taoyuan site
