Job Description

The Global Emergency Response Program Manager is part of a team of professional and volunteer Emergency Response Teams (ERT) globally. This position will provide program management and subject matter experience in support of Applied Materials’ Global Emergency Response program for sites outside of SCLA. This position will collaborate with individuals from all departments to maintain and improve the existing global ERT program to keep our assets safe.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and provides ERT training for medical and hazardous materials response to Global Emergency Coordinators and local team members in the US, EMEA and Asia.
  • Coordinates and monitors project management activities to implement and train new Emergency Response Teams (ERTs) in new sites as needed as the company grows.
  • Professionally interfaces with outside emergency services, company management, employees, and ERT volunteers.
  • Develops policies, procedures, templates, standards and documentation in support of the management and sustainability of the global ERT program.
  • Provides emergency response and preparedness training and awareness communication for employees globally.
  • Coordinates with site teams to develop and conduct emergency response exercises and drills.
  • Advises site teams to ensures that all Emergency Management plans, activities, and operations are carried out in compliance with applicable local, state and federal regulations and laws.
  • Performs regular reviews and updates to all program materials to ensure that the quality and accuracy of all program documentation is maintained.
  • Performs continuous monitoring of program activities to identify areas of opportunity for improvement, cost reduction, and enhanced operational efficiency.
  • Supports the company’s crisis management and incident response teams with the coordination and execution of emergency response activities for actual incidents. This may require off hour or weekend work.
  • Responds to site specific emergency events.
  • Facilitates the completion of post-incident response reviews and partners with affected teams and site leadership to confirm that improvement opportunities are effectively deployed across the site in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with site Business Continuity Planning (BCP) Coordinators to develop effective working relationships and documented BCP plans
  • Provides analytical and tactical support to the company and internal stakeholders in the face of evolving threats and potential crises to the organization.
  • This position may require travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5-7 years’ work experience in in emergency response, emergency management, military, or public safety (Required).
  • BA/BS in Emergency Management, Business Resiliency Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) or related field. (Preferred).
  • Strong program management and execution skills (Required)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Required)
  • 1st aid and CPR required. Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) (Preferred)
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to write Standard Operating Procedures  
  • Ability to write technical documents.
  • Adaptable, innovative and detail oriented.
  • Discipline to solve complex problems, with the ability to resolve issues and drive solutions that create win-win situations
  • Ability to navigate complex organizations
  • Demonstrated training and presentation experience (Required).
  • Candidates must have authorization to work in the USA (Required).
  • Experience in business travel and demonstrated cross cultural communication skills (Preferred).
  • Successfully complete physical examination as specified by Applied Materials prior to any offer (Required).
  • Incident Command System (ICS) course 100 and 200 required and on the job ICS experience (Preferred).
  • Knowledge of Federal and State safety and environmental-related regulations (Preferred).
  • Familiarity with Hazardous materials response Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) “levels of protection” (required). California Specialized Training Institute (CSTI) Hazmat Technician or Fire Department Firefighter I (Preferred).
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing environment or equivalent high hazard environment (Preferred).
  • Background and training in chemistry, toxic gas systems and wastewater, also familiarity with chemical hazard classes for common gases and liquids (Preferred).
  • Experience with Business Continuity Planning and Crisis Management Planning and Training. (Preferred)
  • Prior experience supporting? business continuity programs (Preferred)
  • Experience conducting formal inspections, e.g., hazardous materials or safety equipment (Preferred)

You may be required to work off-hours and weekends or called in for emergency incidents.
